This is interesting. Bob McGinn asked 13 scouts to rank the top QBs. Kyler Murray got 7 first-place votes, Dwayne Haskins 4, Drew Lock 2, Daniel Jones 0.

Solid point.

Not even close. I don't think he has any plus traits though. When I have seen him play, nothing he did said wow to me. I watched QBs and put them in other situations in my mind and go, if this guy was at XXXXX he would be a monster. When I watched Rosen at UCLA with his terrible receivers, I was like, If he was OU or OSU, he might have thrown for 6K yards. I never felt like with Jones and his even worse receivers. I think Jones could handle NY though and be a good but not great QB.

There is a team with Daniel Jones as their No. 1 QB on their board. And yall know exactly who that team is.

Ill never forget in 2013 when a reputable NFL insider suggested strong possibility Ryan Nassib was going 8th overall the week of the draft, maybe even day of.

That seems to be where the bar is set. Personally, I want a guy you win because, but thats just me. I feel like they saw Philly win with Foles and Vikings having success with Keemun and thats more or less how they look at the position.

When conference championships feature these 4 QBs:
Brady (6th rounder), Keenum, Foles, Bortles; 75% mediocre

It proves you dont need the franchise QB to win when the supporting cast around __ is good.

You have Saquon Barkley, you have 3 top 40 pick in a class loaded with elite defensive talent ... build the rest of the roster appropriately instead of banking on 1 of these 2019 QBs as your franchise savior.

No, you do t need one. But thats a very narrow view. Only one of those QBs you mentioned has had sustained success with his team, and hes not in the 75% category.

and he was a 6th round pick ... That same team had no problem winning with Brissett or Matt Cassel either
Great point
UberAlias : 4/19/2019 6:38 pm : link
Brady is a low draft pick and any QB can win on that team. He sucks. Got it.

Just watch the damn tape! I 100% do not believe any scout who has watched every one of his games would advocate drafting him in the first two days of the draft. That's not me being extra negative he really wasn't impressive at all. He was also one of the worst players on the field at the Senior Bowl. I believe the love for him on this board comes down to the fact that rumors suggest the Giants may take him and people are hoping for the best. Nothing about his tape or performance suggests he will ever be anything more than a backup QB in the NFL at best.

There are professional NFL talent evaluators who disagree with you. If Belichick drafts him at 32 how will you tell Bill he's made a big mistake?

Was talking throughout senior bowl week not the game itself. He was the QB of the winning team

Still wrong

I heard he fumbled a snap on Thursday. The only suitable course of action is to completely remove him from the draft board.
Nice tweet...

Several NFL evaluators told CBSSports.com early in the week that they were split on Lock and Jones, but that's almost certainly changed.
Yes, Jones was named Senior Bowl Most Valuable Player -- he went 8 of 11 for 115 yards and a touchdown, which led all North passers -- but the numbers don't tell the entire story. With temperatures in the mid-50s, the sun shining and hardly any wind to speak of, Jones' downfield passes regularly wobbled, and many of the throws he got away with here on Saturday would be interceptions in the NFL. Ohio State's Terry McLaurin made a nice adjustment on a flea flicker pass from Jones that was slightly underthrown and behind the wide receiver.

But lets keep pretending that Im making this up bc we might reach for a day 3 qb in rd 1.

I still dont necessarily mind Jones at the right price given how appalling this QB class is in its depth. At his best, hes about Ryan Tannehill. If you can structure a West-Coast Offence around him with some quick passing, Daniel can at least be competent despite his limitations. But is Ryan Tannehill truly moving the needle for a franchise? The answer is an emphatic no.

If you want Jones in the 3rd or 4th Round, Im all for it. But this Top 10 talk is making me nauseous, with the Senior Bowl only validating my previous film concerns.

the opinion that matters most is Pat Shurmurs. Ill take his track record with QBs and offense, and trust that he knows whatnhe's looking for in a QB. If he thinks Djones has the traits im down with it.

i happen to like Jones as well and think he will do well in our offense.
