I heard this on the radio this morning and couldn't believe it. From September 22nd to November 10th, the Bucs will not play a game at Raymond James Stadium. In fairness, they are the "home" team when the play the Panthers at Tottenham and there is also a bye week in there.
Regardless, how can you do that to an NFL team. Going 7 weeks without playing at your home stadium. I don't think I have ever seen that.
For as much money the NFL makes and the amount of resources they put into every little detail, how did they screw this up?
Bucs Schedule - (
New Window )
Apparently, the game this year was agreed to by the Bucs so that they get the Super Bowl in 2021.
Total rip off for both teams.
Yeah, that is odd. However...just two home games in the heat and 5 home games during a time of year where Tampa is just fantastic for weather...really more of an advantage to the opposing teams who would be less used to the hot weather...but also a huge advantage to fans wanting to come to the stadium to watch the game and tailgate...of course, the Giants visit here (I live just outside of Tampa) September 22nd, so it will still be hot as hades.
If Tampa is trying to encourage attendance, you don't mind so many late in the year home games.
So if they go 5 games without a home game, they'll end up having a concentration of home games to make up for it at some point.
I think someone gets hosed on the schedule a little every year.
9/29 to 11/3 is the actual range of 'away' games; and don't forget about the aforementioned bye week sandwiched in there.
And the three outdoor games are:
Carolina in November and SF in December, each average high around sixty degrees;
and at Tampa end of December, average high around seventy degrees.
QB and kicker dream schedule.
