And as he was trotting off the field w/ a neck, announcers said 'Nimmo will be back soon' which I dunno how anyone could conjecture at. Yesterday he said he's 25% better but can only turn his head right comfortably, while left / up / down not so much. Sure maybe he slept wrong, but it's a neck...
Same here re: good vibes. That would really suck for both the Mets and MLB.
Add me to this list as well.
Even as a Yankee fan I like watching him pitch and appreciate how good he really is. He's one of if not the best in the game and hopefully for all concerned, this is something minor.
I'd hate to see deGrom go down with a serious injury. I have a feeling that this is just a precautionary measure but with the Mets luck you never know.
Even if you are not a Mets fan you want to tune into watch DeGrom pitch cause he is probably the best pitcher in the game right now and baseball needs its stars on the field

Update via Mickey Callaway: deGrom might not get an MRI Monday. Hell still get seen by doctors, but he feels good enough that they might not bother with the MRI.
Instead of being in an MRI tube Saturday, as the Mets has initially planned, Jacob deGrom was in the outfield at Busch Stadium throwing from 120 feet.
Two days after playing catch and experiencing elbow soreness, which landed him on the injured list Friday, deGrom threw again and felt completely normal, he said. The Mets ace may not even need an MRI exam Monday, manager Mickey Callaway said, though the right-hander still plans to meet with team medical director Dr. David Altchek in New York.
After getting some treatment [Friday] and getting things moving around, I started feeling a little better, deGrom said Saturday. So I decided to throw today and actually felt good with how it went....

Jacob deGrom is throwing in the outfield, so I guess the assumption is the docs cleared him. Or maybe he didnt even see the docs. No word from #Mets.

Fuck yes.
Not the best end to the road trip for the team to say the least, but DeGrom being OK is far more important in the grand scheme of things. IMO, our 25 man roster is as good as anyone in the division with healthy DeGrom.
That being said, don't want Philly to open up any sort of real lead. Let's win this series at home. Our pitching coaches, manager, and starters themselves need to get themselves straightened out. Too many bad performances with gems few and far between.
Gio Gonzales is now a UFA. Ugly AAA ERA, but some metrics (K/9) looked really good and he looks to have been unlucky (high babip against). By all accounts, Vargas was torched again on Friday and was lucky not to have given up a lot more than he did. Let's sign Gio. Seems like he'd be an upgrade and not too expensive.
era is based on one bad start (his first). 2nd and 3rd start- 11 innings 11 hits 3 walks 18 k's 2 ER. Brewers are seen as the favorites.
embarrassing if the Mets pursue him and get beat out by Milwaukee.
I like Milwaukee as a city, I was pleasantly surprised, but NYC > MIL in every facet IMO, including the on-field teams IMO.
He played for them last year and pitched well so I'm guessing that would come into play. I'd also say it's debatable at best to say the Mets are better on field. The Brewers won 96 games last year and have maybe the best player in the NL. 3 games over despite Braun (might be done), Shaw (one of their best players) and Aguilar (arguably the worst player in baseball up until this point) doing absolutely nothing. I'm not saying it's some landslide but I think the Brewers are the superior team on paper. Added Grandal to an already solid squad.
I mean maybe they are just going to have one of those years but that seems unusually bad for 2 guys who aren't over the hill and have hit at a high level for the past 2 seasons and Braun who again could just be old but also might just be a slow start.
the Mets are projected by Zips to win 87 games, the Brewers 85.
Not going to debate lineups, stats, or OPS, and if you don't like Zips and you think MIL is slightly better on-field, it's close.
And I have to think the Mets is a more attractive team (because I'm a fan), and could probably pay more, than the Brewers, if the owners were willing.
Him pitching in MIL prob carries a little weight since they did well, but he spent one half season there (or less actually).
No disagreement with anything you said here. Really I only even responded because I noticed independently Shaw and Aguilar being shockingly bad. Shaw had MAJOR hype coming into the season.
His last start is better than Syndergaard's and deGrom's.
Very true - but not much to get excited for
No, it sucks, sort of glad the Mets are taking some lumps early, hoping for gradual improvement the rest of April and May and ideally hit their stride June/July and add pieces at the deadline for a meaningful stretch run.
Same here re: good vibes. That would really suck for both the Mets and MLB.
Ha!!!!
Yup...strep elbow. Can only hope he's ok

Dont the Mets ALWAYS sound optimistic about these things? Then...bam.
Of a man running and jumping out the window that was used for the Harvey injury?

PJ you were consistent about that from day 1 of the issue, and I was inclined to agree with you.
Praying this is precautionary.

he wasn't feeling soreness 3 weeks ago, he feels it now. Why would an MRI three weeks ago, have any relevance to this?
