While I was never a Kyle Higashioka fan, he looks good behind the plate, although his arm is worse than Romine's. Romine has not looked good at all this year. He was kicking balls in the dirt all over the place.
Think I would prefer Torres at 3 and Voit at 4....
We do have to give it to this team so far. They are battling it out recently and keeping us in good position with respect to Boston. Boston for as lucky as they were last year in every aspect seem like they are paying for it now this year where they aren't getting the breaks they got last year.
This sounds like a stupid question but maybe it isn't: Â
Do you guys want Boston or TB to win today. The obvious answer is TB. But has anybody really paid attention to TB this year? They really have quietly put a very nice team together. Their pitching staff is pretty damn good and they have some young guys in the lineup too. It isn't easy to compete with the Yanks and Sox in the AL East but they are opening up some eyes around the league. With that said, I still want Boston to lose because I am not sure TB can play at this level all year and Boston will get on a hot streak at some point. Still, TB deserves some respect.
Are they going to get this game in?
It has been raining here all morning outside of Beantown.
Keep in mind, K.C. only comes in once a season,
with a west coast trip looming.

Knocking Frazier batting fifth is pretty funny, he's definitely been one of the better hitters the Yankees have had since his call up, no matter how recent. Of course the lineup isn't as deep as the Yankees had hoped but Frazier is making a case to be a regular player right now.

also after re-reading, I think you might be knocking Ford batting 6th. Which makes a lot more sense in the recency category.
With deGrom going in for an MRI and now Eovaldi, you'd have to think there are coaches and managers out there who are going to discourage max-effort throwing and start to focus on pitching the baseball. The body can't keep up with analytics.

Is absolutely awful at first we need a 1st basemen
Yeah, he is not very good. But why not just let him get better before giving up. I know the frustration, but he works hard and I think his bat is worth the wait.
Pretty clear that that ball was going to leave the yard. Also looked to me like Gordon didn’t quite have it timed right to make the catch.
I don’t blame Boone for losing his shit there. Not sure how there was enough to overturn the call on the field.
Very easy - fan reached into field of play, that is interference. If the ball was past the boundary of the wall when the fan touches it, no interference.
don’t want fans reaching over, put rails up. Applying a penalty to the teams for hitting HRs or doubles by changing them to outs seems crazy to me in 2019.
Dolan can ban a fan for life at the garden for asking him to sell the team, a fan that interferes with the game should be banned for life or at least fined. Getting kicked out of the ballpark is not enough insentive to not reach for the ball.
I agree with the call. Reached over into field of play.
Not only did he reach over the wall, but he collided with the LFer's glove. Had he not touched the fielder's glove, maybe they would not have called it.
Follow the trajectory of the ball: the LF wasn't quite getting to that ball.
Yes it would have been a HR. But the fan reached into the field of play and touched the ball over the fielder's glove. Whether it would have been a HR or if Gordon would have caught it is not really relevant, if I understand the rule.

So you’ll start banning kids? The solution that’s fair for everyone is to set seats back an extra foot and put rails up.

The railing would need to be horizontal to prevent being able to reach over the wall. I agree.
And I have never in my life heard of this guy Fillmyer
This has certainly been a bad outing for this guy, but the fan interference call masks just how bad; it should be 9 earned runs in 4 innings, which is about as ugly as it gets.

And take a row of premium seats away, will never happen.
Putting seats back is an idea, since I guess it is too much to ask an idiot not to interfere with a live play, that is too much to ask from an asshole for sure.
You say that it's irrelevant whether or not the LF would have caught the ball: once the fan interferes in any way, it's a dead ball and the batter is out. End of story.
Let's assume we aren't talking about a wall-scraper, but the ball is a no-doubter headed to the upper deck. The LFer, figuring he has nothing to lose, leaps with his glove in the air nonetheless before the ball crosses the invisible plane some 30ft above him. The elbow of a cheering fan inadvertently scrapes the LFer's glove in the process, which by definition, is fan interference.
or an idiot. I’d like to think I wouldn’t do it but if the ball is hit right at me, I’m probably making a play for it, how often does that even happen for someone? A lot of it is just gut reaction, you simply want to catch it.
If the stadiums are going to be designed to allow possible fan interference, than that’s on the MLB/owners.

Of course this is also true. Have to say up until that play, the fans have not been reaching on those wall scrapers.

Do we call the batter out in this situation?
How did the fan interfere with that play in your example? Ball was in the upper deck.

Sox loose another player - ( New Window )
Nonetheless, NCIS is investigating.

Ooops, meant Ford - thought he had Ford 5th...

Question is - was it over the wall?
Looks bad.

I said the same exact thing. The fun continues...
