In a pause from all the draft related speculation, I noticed we are practically 3 months into the off season and Mcadoo has yet to be hired by a team. This is 2 off-season snow that he’s been on the outside looking in. It’s very hard for a coaching career to survive that much time of complete idleness (he’s not coaching anywhere).
While my opinion of him as a coach is probably the lowest I’ve held for a professional coach in any sport I followed, I assumed someone, on the collegiate or professional level, would hire him in some capacity by now. Even from a pure resume perspective - he did coach one of the premier franchises in the country for 2 years and has 8 years of experience in the NFL, and he’s still young.
I’m very curious as to why that hasn’t happened and have only 2 explanations in mind:
1) He’s as stubborn and arrogant as he was here and declines the offers that are being made, still overrating himself compared to the market perception of him.
2) Market perception of him is as a lost cause. That would fit with my own, but I’m basing mine on very limited data and take into account I may very well be wrong due to a large chunk of information I dont have. So the fact that managements across the country have formed the same perception as fans did, is a rarity which I am just skeptic all about.
Curious as to what your thoughts are on this. Does he deserve another chance somewhere? Why wasn’t he granted/taken one? Does this means his career as a football coach is over?
When asked in an interview before the playoff game what he thought about McAdoo, Rodgers said "he is a funny guy".
Then, another comment from within the Green Bay locker room was that Ben was nothing more than an over paid gym teacher.
Meanwhile, what job should he get hired for? He did not do well really in any role that he had here.
As is Fassel..:)
He's not taking a job because the Giants are paying him through this year, and he's busy pinching himself.
Well done.
You know in all seriousness...when he showed up looking like that I had a bad feeling. Who the hell let him out of the house like that? Didn't he look in a mirror and say "this ain't gonna work". Did he buy that suit last minute off the rack? That press conference was his first interview if you will with the press and public as a head coach and he showed up looking like that? Cruel to be saying this but then when the team showed up looking like he dressed, as a suit that didn't fit, it was over. The guys in locker room must have been pissing their pants laughing watching that press conference. Maybe that's what Rodgers meant when he said "he's a funny guy". After all he wore a clown suit to be introduced.
Bing
And remarkably when he showed up for the second season with his Gordon Gekko imitation he managed to look even more foolish than the first.
Seriously, maybe the luckiest person alive today.

Wonder if Rodgers meant 'funny' as in 'humorous' or
'funny' as in 'screwy'.
You forget that he threw the players under the bus and avoided taking any of the blame for the teams pitiful performance.
Marc Ross is still unemployed which is less surprising. The only reason he gets interviewed is because teams need to comply with the Rooney rule.

That’s interesting. I didn’t know that actually. Was under the impression the Green Bay folk actually supported him overall. If the above is true Inwonder how Coughlin hires him as OC in the first place.

Chilling to think we hired this guy so Eli can complete 70% of his passes, because that's important for reasons. Then promoted him to coach.

taken back the offer when he showed up for the press conference looking like a 12 year old who borrowed his big brothers suit for a funeral.

I think his sub-conscious knew and was trying to convey he was not big enough for the job. It's Dosteyvsky-ing.
The issue was he was only a hot young great coach to the Giants. What a historically bad hire. He was a horrible HC am empty suit of an OC. To even be compared to Ray Handley says it all. The were A LOT. of comments from people about his “sandwich board” play sheet etc. never mind in his first year he has noting to do w the defense which was why the Team won 11 games.
Mara falling in love w him set this team back years from the get go when he was forced into the OC hire
That Mara is a real class act.
That Mara is a real class act.
I tend to believe the benching episode was more of a bungle than anything nefarious. But in retrospect it was just another in the long line of dopey moves by Mara to try and soften the blow as the era ended.
He was so obsessed with everything ending well, it blew up in his face with everyone. Coughlin's "retirement", Reese's fix it our else mandate, Manning's tantrum about handing over the reigns mid-game.

Fassel actually got hired briefly by his buddy Bill what's his face, didn't he?
Brian Billick hired them fired him IIRC

What size tin foil hat do you wear?

Big Mac was fired because he sucked, and lost the team and the fans. He still hasn't been hired because no one thinks he is any good.

Are you making stuff up or do you have a link?
Here's one that says the opposite.
