Sources in other teams’ front offices are convinced the Giants have “always” wanted Haskins at No. 6, Matt Miller of Bleacher Report notes, adding Big Blue has researched the Ohio State product more than any other team.
Not sure how strong of a source this is, but I figured it is worth a share.
Say what you will about Gettleman, but he’s doing a good job of smokescreens, and putting misinformation out there. Link - ( New Window )
where we had absolutely no clue who they were taking in the first round. Excellent job by DG and crew. That’s how it should be even though it can be annoying from a fans perspective.
I look forward to his explanation on why the Giants pass on Haskins at 6. I imagine it’s either going to be “they didn’t expect (insert player actually selected at 6) him to be there at 6” or “they soured on Haskins because of his lack of athleticism or his weight”
It prompted the Skins to trade the house to move up and get Haskins. Would all but guarantee one of Q or JA falling to 6. But then again, we would prob have to trade up ahead of Cinci to get Jones.
He mentioned the importance of OL/DL dominance. That you don't reach for a position of need at the expense of more talented players. The strength of this draft is defensive front seven and OL which fits our primary needs, why do so many think that DG will go against his natural tendency just because they want their desire fulfilled.
If this info, gets someone to move up with Jets/Raiders for picks Â
False. He had us taking Barkley last year. So, if you want to say not much, fine. But nothing is incorrect.
Wow that’s some limb he went out on. Best player to come along in years and the giants had a need for that position and player. Best player at 2 and the giants picked him at 2. Amazing really.
If one went back just the last two weeks and pooled together all the different asshats, assholes, talkies and media types who pegged players being picked by NYG at six, the number of different players would eclipse ten, easily.
Cant wait for the loose lips argument when one of these ten players is the pick.
Don’t know whether to believe our guys or these guys Â
After having teams jump ahead of the Giants, the best thing to do is say nothing but that’s almost impossible given the number of loud mouths in any organization. Next best thing to do is give hints about multiple players where there are needs to try and confuse. Can’t hide multiple workouts but can try and obfuscate
To keep sounding like a dead horse, while everyone says Haskins is not in play, again, I am struck at the all-hands-on-deck contingent at his Pro Day.
Eric we are on the same page here. I'm a pretty intuitive thinker and something seems different this year. They almost seem to be pumping way more misinformation this year. Why not our insiders?
If the Haskins things was a smokescreen then why haven't we heard a peep about it since? You want to convince people you are going Haskins and you keep sending out signals until it happens. Although all the ESPN people, including Kellerman a Giants fan, seem to think we are going Haskins so maybe they consider that a success.
to play in NY and it not being just about talent, bringing in players with character, that want to be a part of a winning culture, etc.
Haskins fits that entire narrative to a tee. If QB were just about pure talent, he might be near the top but not a can’t miss guy. That being said, the work ethic, background, poise, mental makeup makes me think of he’s available in the 8-12 range we jump up to get him.
They could not be willing to move up for him and Gettleman is running screen with his comments.
If he is there at 6 I believe they take him.
He he is not that means a top defender drops and we go there.
It a smart play if that's it.

I don't think that trade makes too much sense considering we have the 6th pick. So you are going to give up next years first to take a guy you could have grabbed a few places before?
With the amount of decent QB's coming out I don't think it Â
makes sense to trade up for a QB unless your getting a sure thing top 5 guy or are desperate and are one QB away from a superbowl. Cheap, talent is more important that ever and I'm sure NFL teams have analytics to back that up. You get that by drafting well and it is very hard to draft well if you are missing 1st and 2nd round picks.
The body language at his pro-day is what sticks out as Eric said with all our top guys there.
Haskins checks just about every single box when it comes to things the Giants look for in their QB, on and off the field, and the kind of player Gettleman has talked about filling the locker room with.
Now listen to Haskins speak in interviews and it only amplifies how confident I am that he is our guy. He's humble, respectful, and has a calmness about him when answering questions. All of which gives me belief he can handle the NY media. Going beyond dealing with the media, Haskins sounds like a very intelligent player (while doing his whiteboard work with Mooch( and I have little doubt he impressed the Giants in his interviews and when they put him on the board.
He said recently on Golic and Wingo he's more than ready to sit for a year or three as his time at Ohio State he was in a similar situation and he understands what needs to be done to prepare in that role.
Because someone scared him off because the OP ( will not post his name out of respect)was trying to validate his post by showing a connection to the scout said Haskins was completely out of the Giants' plans.
Now I know the back n forth, but the fact that he deleted the thread so suddenly could signal legitimacy of this claim.
Lastly, I have never known the Giants to exhibit the level of disinformation that is being bandied about here.

Oh Jesus, 85% of the universe had us taking Barkley. What a ridiculous acknowledgement.
You trust these 3 in the few weeks you signed up and hotdog especially since he said he gave up asshatery?
So the question is whTs your former screen name?

George....they looked absolutely giddy at his pro day. You can't fake that type of body language unless it was done on purpose with intent.

You are risking the life of the BBI hamster...

Smoke? I’m sure they’re very interested, but could it be a ruse?
Reese created bigger leaks than the iceberg that sunk the Titanic.
Therefore, any news was premature
The Giants know which of the QBs they prefer, but, there may be players that they prefer
If Q Williams, Bosa, or Allen, drop then they may chose one of them in lieu of a QB
I think that it is fluid until they draft
Last year there were fewer probabilities so the Giants could be more certain of their pick
