Can we assume that a top defender(Sweat, White, etc) will be on board as well as Haskins and Lock?
DG has to make every attempt to trade down. I Know you need a partner..surely one of Denver, Cincy or Miami could be inticed into moving up..even if we don’t get great value and extra 2 or 3 would help.
We all want the Giants to love the QB they take..take him at 6 and not 17. In this scenario take the risk and move down.I just don’t want to hear ‘you don’t get cute’, ‘or ‘no guts no glory’, etc.
If those two QBs are on the board there is a very minimal chance of Jones going before them. At 10-13 you should be able to land him. The extra draft capital can be flipped into another 1st with our 2nd or for Future picks.
Do you take Jones at 6 if he is our guy or roll the dice? I see the extra draft pick(s) plus a consolation prize of Bush, Burns or someone dropping would be enough for me to move.
I still think the value is in Haskins or D at 6.
If the Giants want Jones, they won't risk losing him just to get an extra draft pick. Aside from Allen or Q. Williams, there isn't a single player I wouldn't risk losing at #6 to get an extra #2. That extra #2 could then be used to trade up from #17 for Jones, although I hope they don't.
I'd be stunned if the Giants took a QB at #6. It's defense or a trade down.

So would I. The defense is SO bad, they need someone on the DLine far more than they need someone to back up Eli. This defense is going to be brutally bad if they don't get a truck load of talent real soon.

You do not draft for need. Now obviously they won't take a RB if he is BPA but if the Giants feel that Jones is the long term answer at QB then they would be foolish to not take him unless a player like Quinnen Williams, Josh Allen, or Nick Bosa fall to 6. Then they should grab one of them and then trade up from 17 to get Jones.
Me? I have no idea whether Jones is or not.
If they are “sold” on a future QB, this draft is so deep that a QB at 6 could still land them a stud day-1 starter on defense at 17.
I hope QB isn’t even in play in the 1st round, but I’m preparing myself for a Daniel Jones @ 6 pick followed by the inevitable meltdown on here and media vitriol.
Once Allen/Bosa/Williams are off the board, the D prospects plateau and OL/TE also come into play. They’ll have a shot at a great player at 17, hopefully they don’t reach on a QB at 6. I have a bad feeling it’s Jones at 6 - followed by the inevitable ridicule we have to take while hoping for the best
There is no QB worth the 6th overall pick. None.

Well, I agree with you on Jones. I do think Haskins and Murray are well worth it at 6, but to each his own. What’s clear is this is a very divisive draft, just as last year was. Going to be interested to see how it turns out.
I will say this: I wholeheartedly believe 4 QBs will go in the top 15. It’s not rocket science. If the Giants want a QB and don’t take one at 6, they are going to have to give up a pick - or picks - to get one. Our third rounder is very late in the third and may not be enough to get it done.
All that is to say that if the Giants want a QB, they better pick the guy at 6.

Assuming that you have neither, the QB is always a higher priority since he's the player who has the most effect on winning or losing the game and he is supposed to be your starter for 10-12 years.

"Assuming you have neither"..... The Giants have a decent QB and no defense at all.
I rather not spend the 6th pick for a QB, as defense is where they will find bpa.
But if they do
He must be a franchise QB, who lead 4th qtr comebacks, drive for winning TDs in Super Bowls

Give me a 6'4" or 6'5" 215 - 225 lbs pocket passer with ice water in his veins any day.

Have you heard anything else on Rosen? You had mentioned the Giants were looking into him.

Would shock me based on what I have heard.

I’ll say this, if DG and Shurmur feel Rosen is a solid fit, that would sure as hell free us up to do some serious “damage” in round 1, imv

This would be interesting. They would probably take Jones at 11 and go D and O line with next three picks.

for me any trade down at 6 has to start with picks next year so for cincinnati to move to 6 from a 11 id want there 2 next year plus there 3 this year

For sure. Tough not to agree with this logic.
Exactly! More likely the Giants fans would view it this way:
