Over, the Giants have many needs. Your post seems to indicate you don’t believe quarterback is one of them. In the short term, accepting the opinion of many, that Eli will be fine, not listing quarterback as a need is valid.
In the long term, if Giants follow your narrative, they will in consecutive years have passed on 7 or 8 quarterbacks who were taken in the first round, Yikes!

Joe, can we not keep repeating the last statement as fact? I've seen it repeated not just by you, but it is factually untrue. Yes, the Giants chose Barkley over any of the available QBs last year. I'm not going to debate the choice. But we didn't "pass" over them all. If a player is picked before us, we did not pass on them. We can also safely eliminate Lamar as an option. Yes, he was picked in the 1st round, but a QB that can't throw the ball is never an option regardless of what round. So just last year, we did not pass on Mayfield or Jackson. We technically "passed" over Darnold, Allen, and Rosen in lieu of Barkley.
We don't know how the draft will play out this year, but we can reasonably expect Kyler going #1. We won't be passing on a player picked before us. If other QBs are picked via trading up before us, then we can't accuse the Giants of "passing" on a player who isn't available to us.
As of today, we have passed on 3 QBs that were picked in the first round not 7 or 8. Let's wait till Thursday before we pad the stat to frame an argument.

Ok, good pt. But they will have passed on at least 6. Thing is I m happy Eli has this season and maybe even next, I m an Eli fan, not hater, but would just like the next guy in place. Also I don t believe quarterback candidates often come with less risk than the quarterbacks the Giants will have passed on have.
But Your point is correct regarding Mayfield and the Baltimore kid.
I don't mean to single you out as the point has been repeated by others. It just that these "facts" have a way of growing legs as they are repeated. I think it originated in the twitter-shpere.
I am one of the biggest Eli proponent. I also would like a legitimate prospect to be taken either this year or next. I don't consider Kyle a legitimate prospect. His ceiling is a backup if he sticks. Soon enough, we will know how many QBs we have passed on. Until then, there is no need to repeat hyperbole only to frame an argument.
Eli will be fine for another year or 2, now that OL has finally settle down (A RT still must be added).
DG does not seem like the type that does anything in despeation....so lets calm down....and see how Thursday play out
Are you Paul Dottino???. Two more years of Eli? No thanks. It’s amazing how some people just ignore how poorly he has played for over 3 seasons now and pins every thing on the offensive line. The E hive. Let’s just keep delaying the process maybe we replace Eli by the year 2025
take him, then I’ll be pissed. Otherwise a QB is fine. No one is jumping us at 6 for Jones. (Allen or Williams at 6, a minor miracle, trade up from 17 for Jones and I’m good. As long as they use later rd picks and next year’s capital to move up. #37 is important to keep this year.

I am not all that concerned with the number of QB’s they pass on. I am more concerned with how many QB’s they pass on that become better than average. We can find an average guy. At this point in his career Eli is pretty much average and probably can be for a few more years at least.
The Jets may be the most motivated, the Cards probably the least.
I think it's going to be a buyer's market to move up.

Are teams desperate enough to give up a ton for what is deemed by bw central as a mediocre at best lot of QBs?

The 49ers could definitely use more draft picks. They only have 6 this year. They don't have a 2nd round or 5th round pick.
