Christian Wilkins is getting high consideration at 6. Like his leadership, personality, and play. getting comparisons to Eagles Fletcher Cox. Passing Gary and Sweat.
Isn't it better value to trade back a few spots; (acquire a second or a third) and draft him. The additional pick can net us a high-end WR/OT/Edge/CB/S?
Aside from Allen and Q. Williams, I am not sure there is any player at #6 I would take rather than trading down to #10 or #11 for an extra second round pick.
But theI Giants won't risk losing a player they really want just to get an extra pick, which is certainly defensible. 'Don't get cute." There are also other ways to get an extra day two pick, namely by trading down from #17, or using day three picks to trade up back into the third round.
The problem is you can want to trade down, but if there’s no player another team sees worthy of trading up for, it’s irrelevant. I’d love to “trade down” a few spots and land a Wilkins, Lawrence, Bush, Burns with some extra picks - but it also takes another team willing to sacrifice picks to move up.
I love the D talent in this draft, and yes you’ll get a similar graded player at 6 and 10 in this draft ... but that team at 10 may also feel the same way and not offer anything worth trading down for.

Agreed. You need a partner. My hope is that someone would trade up for a QB. But I don't think the Giants will trade down, and am fine if they don't. I typically don't favor trading down out of the top 10 unless someone makes an incredible offer.

After Gettleman’s press conference I’m expecting them to trade up into round 3 or 4 at least once to get someone they like.

Kiper said either yesterday or this morning that he's rising up boards.
I’m not buying that he’s moving up boards. I think he was high up on the real boards from the start and the draft community is just now catching on.
And it seems obvious at the point the Giants want a versatile 3-4 DL guy vs. Edge as their top priority to address. He is a better pass rusher than Christian is. His hand technique is one of the best Ive ever seen.
With that said Id do all I could to trade up for Q.
But Wilkins is still pretty good.
Obviously Sy likes him , he was effective his freshamn uear (always a good sign) . Had one of Boyleharts highest grades this year:
STRENGTHS
Christian is a uniquely, talented and athletic football player. He can play multiple positions in multiple fronts on your defensive line and impact at all of them. He shows excellent leadership skills and is a coach on the field. He is smart and uses excellent techniques when defending against the run or when he is used to rush the passer. Christian has the athletic talent and the quick explosion off the line of scrimmage that makes it hard for offensive lineman to get set before he engages with them. He gains leverage because of his pad level and natural strength at just about any position you play him at on the defensive line or against any one of the offensive linemen immediately off the snap of the ball. On passing downs, when put over the center, he requires a double team or he will beat that center off the line and disrupt or sack the quarterback almost every time. Christian has the potential to be as good a football player as former Eagles and Packers Hall of Fame defensive lineman Reggie White. For you young Draftniks think of Christian as a bigger version of the Rams Aaron Darnold.
TALENT BOARD ROUND 1.32
Christian has made impacting plays on defense, on offense and on special teams. He can play defensive line at any position or become a dominating complete blocking and catching the ball Tight End on offense or…he can be and outstanding Christian Okoye style running back (look him up, I can’t do everything for you), if that is how you want to use him. That’s how his college team used him so why not? What is the most outstanding attribute that Christian will bring to the team that selects him, his character and that alone is worth the signing money this kid should receive. He is a leader who understands that the team concept is more important than just one person doing their job. His college team will struggle to replace this kid’s impact on and off the field for this program. So, if you need to add a multi-talented, athletic big man who can play multiple position for you on defense or offense and will be a coach on the field and a leader in the locker room and… has the character to make the community and team he plays for proud, then it would be smart to select Christian. I know I would if I’m in the top ten trying to build a team… for sure. I call him Christian (The Answer) Wilkins because he is the type of player who will be the answer to a team’s prayers.
On the Dline and he is certainly a character guy that Getts would love.
But so is Q. Williams. Can ALSO be the lead dog , stellar character. Man make the trade up!!!
Trading up with Jets to secure Williams or Allen makes so much sense for both teams. Jets drop 3 spots, get some extra picks, and land Oliver/Burns.
Not at all. I’m not trading our 2 and a bevy of other picks likely including a 2 or 3 next year to move up a few spots. This team needs multiple quality players.
Not sure he'll ever reach the dominant level of Fletcher Cox, but that's the upside with a pretty high floor. At minimum he's a better Sheldon Rankins. Would be my favorite pick at 6, but wouldn't mind it and at 17 he'd be great. There are a lot of highly talented defensive players in this draft so if they have conviction in 1 of the lesser talked about guys (Burns, Wilkins, etc) I'd have no issue.
Gary is the only guy who's a throw the remote pick for me - just seems like he has bust potential.

Just for shits and giggles, any idea of what the Giants think of Kyler Murray? Not that anything is likely to happen that way, but what do they think of him?
That Wilkins supporting cast is so good that he might be a bit overrated? I mean... who do you double team between Wilkins, Lawrence, Farrell and Bryant? Very possible im way off base though.

Wilkins is legit, Lawrence is 1 of my favorite players in this draft, and Farrell is the 1 I’m skeptical of
they will mst likely be drafting a right tackle, possibly in 1st 3 rounds, possibly as early as 17
If so, there is little need for Remmers. I don't want them to rely on Remmers only to punt on picking a capable RT. Putting any eggs in Remmers basket is a losing strategy.
Cox came in the league at 298. And, looking back, It was a knock against Cox too. I just looked at Walter football’s scouting report on Wilkins and even they compare him to Cox.
Draft a starter early and late rounder for depth. I don't want Remmers at all. I've been clear in the past. The OL needs to be fixed. Drafting Jonah fixes RT in the short term and pushes Nate off the roster in 2 years the latest. We still need to draft some depth across the line to develop, but we shouldn't expect to fix it with late rounders.
Speaking of Jonah, here is a recent story on his prep. Joe Thomas approves.

It means Wheeler is likely cut. Remmers is a no brainer signing at the right price - he’s a decent vet RT to plug in while a young guy develops

Ed Oliver may still be on the board. A lot of team will pay a premium to grab him. We need to maximize our draft capital. Just saying.....

I'd rather go with Oliver if we go with an inside dlineman.
I never have the greatest confidence in their next level play. They seem to peak at Death Valley.

Clemson DLs that is...
Atlanta is rumoured to want Ed Oliver badly. They have the 14th pick, though.
I expect a whole lot of Haskins smoke this week ... force the Bengals hand in a trade up (Jets).
Miami is apparently trying to move up with the Jets with a blockbuster package as well ... despite the Tank for Tua mantra often associated with them

Lol Boylehart gets carried away with hyperbole. Q has the chance to be a generational guy, Wilkins is not quite at the skill level.

Honestly I don’t see a ton of difference between Williams and all of the other Bama DL that have come out before him. High floor low ceiling.

Dolphins want one of the pass rushers, either Bosa or Allen.
People need to check themselves if they think teams are going to give away a draft haul for mediocre QB prospects.
