PFT - DE Frank Clark Trade Talk Continues

Rong5611 : 4/22/2019 12:22 pm
Does anyone think we are in on this? We have a ton of cap room after this year. Certainly a good player...

Perhaps this is the "player" discussion being had by DG for #17 and a package.

Thoughts?

Hopefully not. He's not any good.
Give up a first rounder

for the right to hand out an 85 million dollar contract? Just the idea made my stomach do cartwheels.

Same. No thanks. Yes, the Giants pass rush is shit and he would elevate it. But this sort of flies in the face of everything Gettleman is trying to do right now with regard to the salary cap.
I was thinking about this the other day

JTgiants info on the trade thread said that the Giants would do whatever they can to keep the picks they had between 37-95. I'm not sure if he meant to keep a few or all, but I took it as the former. If that's the case than Clark doesn't really fit the criteria.
There's some character stuff there

that I think we'd avoid after the Josh Brown disaster.

That's not what I said. I said we would do everything possible to acquire more picks between 37 and 95 as an fyi

Which equals trading down and looking at trading some of the few player assets they have left (there aren't many). Engram and Jenkins would probably be the most likely.

is also a bit crazy... I'd be very weary of not only giving him $85M but also trading draft capital for him
Is he really worth much more than

Dee Ford?
It would be a terrible move

For any team with NYG talent level. You can’t give up the 17th pick (or the end rounder) for this guy and the contract.

More precisely --- the Giants have no picks between 37 and 95 ! Been looking a lot at moving from 17 to 23 because Houston has 54 and 55. Might be an opportunity there.
