Possible Murray to Giants Rumor

Source: If the #AZCardinals pass on Kyler Murray, the #Giants could potentially move up in the #NFLDraft. Their trade partner? The #Jets.

Giants have 12 picks & would want to move ahead of the #Raiders to draft Murray. Jets want multiple picks.

Kind of a random one. Dyer is mostly a soccer guy, but he's a legitimate reporter. This could easily be coming from the Jets side of things, since I think he's more plugged in there.

Well.... IF Murray is the real deal and the potential to be the next Eli for another 15 years, then why wouldnt we make that trade? Do we need to revisit what we gave up for Eli?

IF?

Yes, it's always been that way.

Last year, NYJ admitted they called CLE re #1 pick and IND re #3 pick, but never called NYG re the #2. It’s real.

Weren’t the scouts all sent home prior to this weekend? If Murray is available, who knows?

Only one who knows for sure is Dave Gettleman. Probably Mara. Maybe Shurmur.

Anything else is most likely speculation. I wouldn't trust any rumor/source on the internet this year.

Better yet, is if no QB is picked and Eli kills it this year. DG than extends Eli at $35M/yr.

Last year, NYJ admitted they called CLE re #1 pick and IND re #3 pick, but never called NYG re the #2. It’s real.

That doesn't PROVE anything.

I remember reading early on before last year's draft that the Jets were convinced the Giants were NOT going to take a QB. So they had no reason to talk to the Giants after they couldn't reach a deal with Cleve. for the #1 overall.

The Jets obviously want to trade out of the #3 spot this year. If the Giants offer the best deal the Jets will do what's best for the Jets and make the trade.
That would be a first

Those include the Cards passing on Murray. I believe this is part of the show the NFL wants - intrigue leading up to the draft. But I’ll believe the Cards passing on Murray when I see it. Until then, these rumors are par for the course in NFL Draft week.

As for the Giants, the asshats could be right or wrong on the picks. We’ll find out in about 79-80 hours. But to loosely quote Nas, “you can hate me [Hoping for Haskins] now, but I won’t stop [Hoping for Haskins] now”. And it won’t matter how many times people take a sledgehammer to a report of Murray or Haskins to the Giants.

With draft picks this year and next and the pack money to continue to develop this team. They gave up a ton for ELI and could do it again. DG wants a legacy QB like Accorsi had. I feel like Jets/Giants are nice partners, Jets want more picks and can still land Oliver/Burns at 6 ... if the price wasn’t too steal obviously
I think one of the challenges in gauging interest in Kyler Murray...
Big Blue Blogger : 4/22/2019 1:41 pm : link
... is that there are so many draftable prospects on the Oklahoma offense. It's like hearing that a team has spent a lot of time watching tape of the Clemson defense, or the Mississippi receiving corps. It's a clue, sure, but who are they actually watching?

Four-fifths of the 2018 Sooner offensive line could probably make the NYG roster. Brown and possibly Anderson could play important roles at other positions. If the Giants have spent hours poring over every Oklahoma pass play, are they primarily watching Murray move around in the pocket, or is the focus on whether Cody Ford and Bobby Evans can handle speed rushers, without Murray's feet to keep defenders honest and bail the tackles out when they whiff? Are the scouts charting Murray's accuracy, or measuring Brown's catch radius? Are they determining whether Murray hangs tough against a blitz, or checking Anderson's pass-protection skills?

If Murray was over 6 feet tall, he’d be touted as the best QB to come out in years

He is a pocket passer first, with elite arm talent, who also happens to be capable of scrambling for a 50+ yard TD

He’s almost perfect ... almost

Judging by the price they paid to move up last year - from 6 to 3 also - you’d have to guess they’d be asking for a lot. The fact that it would be the Giants looking to move up would only increase the price. I imagine it would take 6 and 17 to move up to 3, though maybe we could get other picks back in return as well.

Still, I think Murray goes 1, so this is all moot.
I think that the main quesiton about Murray going forward will be

I think the rivalry between the Jets and Giants at the management and ownership level is about who gets most attention on the back page, moreso than it is about performance on the field.

They need to get away from employing sentimentality for personnel decisions. I'm not saying they should seek out the next Lawrence Phillips or Vontaze Burflict but talent needs to be more important than the fact that a guy attended a Manning passing camp or has a good relationship with Eli. Seems like we're destined to use a premium draft pick to select a pedestrian QB talent for the wrong reasons.

Agree 100%. Have you seen Murray on camera? I don't think he can handle this market - even though he is a fantastic player, QB of this team needs to be able to handle the intense off the field pressure of the NY area market.
If we were to actually do a deal
CGiants07 : 4/22/2019 4:18 pm : link
I would think 1st or 2nd next year plus 95 plus swapping 3 to 6. Then at 17 we trade back to get multiple picks in rounds 1 to 3

Fly up and down the draft boards... long after the last NCAA down has been played. Sure, the combine and pro days are informationally valuable. But shouldn't all this be tweaking time? Not moving a player from a 3rd rounder to a top 5... or a top 10 to off people's boards etc.

Maybe people that actually know what they are doing aren’t as scatter brained and frantic as the media trying to come up with clickbait 24/7?

(I think actual NFL boards have far less “risers” than the headlines suggest)

Is just too tempting not to swing for the fences with. Top 3 running game with a talented passer and a revamped OL would make us dangerous to say the least.

Pass on every other QB. This Franchise has been safe for far too long.

Yeah... the d is so needy for top tier talent but man do I want murray here... i say do it and then go hard after D here on out. Problem is we might not pick this high for a while and really the only true, “easy” way to land elite talent is via the high draft pick. Sure there are other ways, but it’s all about the draft.

Either way I’d be excited but the murray path is both risky and just insanely exciting or tantalizing.
