Video of Eli throwing/routes with Saquon and Shep

No rush/pads, but appears to have a lot of velocity and of the throws shown, quite accurate.

Whoa he looks really good
BBelle21 : 4/22/2019 4:06 pm : link
And it feels like there’s a little extra zip there, in the passes but also his body. C’mon Eli, win a SB for your son and shut up all these Aholes in the fanbase and media. They all look sharper and in synch. Hope this is a great season. I want Eli to go out on top like Strahan did.
LOL!
BBelle21 : 4/22/2019 4:08 pm : link
If the video showed Eli looking a step behind, these same “critics” would act like this video means everything. Eli looks great so he’s just “throwing against air”.
How many seasons has Eli been in the NFL now?

He's still trying to throw against the air? Is he ever gonna try throwing with the air?

I like it. Here is the one he wore in SB 42. It's in the Legacy Room at Metlife.

I don't know about a Hakeem Nicks comeback but I agree with you on how hard he appears to be throwing the ball. I hear a lot of wind in the background. Despite the wind and occasional music I also heard the ball slapping receivers hands no matter how far they were downfield. Sounded real good too.
This is the problem for the draft a QB crowd.

Eli can still play, with a decent pocket protection.

Would sign an extension, probably a team friendly extension.

DG and PS must win sooner, than later.

Why would they spend a premium pick on a QB?

PS. Sign me up for Hakeem Nick pt. 2....no harm, no foul.

Those are just words that have been used by posters here for two years now definitively to describe Manning.

Yeah, he's 38, but I think the physical decline stuff is overstated.

So now it's shifted to "mental" decline. Sorry, 38 year olds don't experience mental decline. Especially 15 year vets.

Protect him and he will deliver.

I honestly think the playoffs are a legit possibility if they can come away with 2 too 20 defensive prospects and land a guy like Risner in round 2

I look forward to Eli shutting people up - Zietler was a huge addition. Eli just might have a pocket to throw from consistently ... something every QB needs

I don't think any serious posters claim Manning will one day turn into Mark Sanchez. Unless there is a big time injury, that's not how declines go at QB.

What usually goes is the reaction time when reading the defense, the confidence in the pocket, the mobility, the ability to make all the throws in game-time situations.

I've never doubted Manning could function as a league average QB this season, it's whether he can 1) up his game to lift an under-talented team 2) keep it up a few years as the roster improves.

Hakeem Nicks part 3, you're forgetting he played in 2015. Also, you think Eli would sign a team friendly extension, lol at that. Each time he resigned he became the highest paid quarterback.

He needs to recalibrate his internal clock after years of constant jail breaks. IMO, he hasn't declined all that much physically but his mental processing has been affected from the constantly rotating severely underwhelming Olines.

that anyone would put any stock at all into this video. If you want to see what Eli has left, just go watch the 16 games he played last year, or the year before and draw your conclusions from that, either good or bad. How he throws the ball in his shorts is nothing compared to how he plays when the live bullets fly.

Remember when David Webb was posting similar videos on Twitter??? It doesn't mean anything.

If you can't make all of the throws, it limits you. Can Jones make all of the throws? I don't know. He can rainbow it deep, but can he fire that deep out. If he can't, the CB's don't have to cover the intermediate sideline.

I haven't seen him get the ball to the sidelines with enough zip - I think it will be a problem for him in the NFL. DB's are going to be able to sit on inside leverage if they're not worried about the ball getting across the field quick enough.

Jones doesn't have a weak arm, but I just don't see a whole lot of him really driving the ball the way I've seen Murray, Haskins, and Lock do it - and I worry that the extra air under his deep ball is going to allow for far more contests by faster NFL DB's.
Nicks has to be what, 32? 33?

Sean, I'm probably the last guy you want to ask about collegiate QBs. Hell, I remember when I thought Akili Smith was going to be good.

That said, a 5'10 QB scares the hell out of me (but damn, he is a stud athlete).

I don't see it with Jones but I understand the attractiveness of a guy who plays smart and makes the right decisions.

Haskins did look a little winded at his Pro Day, but he probably intrigues me the most. I love the way he carries himself and he can rip it. But he's only played 14 games (like Murray).

BTW- at the 1:00 mark
Leg of Theismann : 4/22/2019 8:53 pm : link
You see basically the exact play Eli and Tyree scored on in SB 42 to take the lead 10-7 with 11:05 remaining in the game, and I think it's from the same spot on the field (5 yard line).

Joe Buck: "Play-action... Manning, over the MIDDLE... Touchdown, Giants. David Tyree."

Only difference is on this particular throw he put it a little too high. In the SB he put it right on the numbers in stride. Thing of beauty.

Maybe not stronger, but rebounding?

Note his deep out throws in the video. Those are the throws that separate QBs.

Eric,

What would he be "rebounding" from? You mean an undisclosed injury? Or just general old age (how do you rebound from old age, though?)? Or did he for some reason slack off the last few years and now he's "working his ass off" again?

I feel like you and a lot of other people are over-analyzing this video. 1) The thing is clearly edited to show his best throws and 2) I'm not sure why you think you'd be able to the difference in ball velocity between these close-up camera angles and the long-view shots of the field in a game. If a QB were to improve his velocity it could not be by more than a few mph, and do you really think you would be able to tell that difference in a video like this compared to the camera angles when watching a game on FOX?

To give you a comparison, this would be like watching OBJ's edited workout vids he posted on Instagram last off season and saying "Yup, I can tell, he hasn't lost a step! If anything he's faster and more agile than he was before! And when he runs there's a lot more rap music playing than I remember." But then the season starts and you're like, oh wait, no he's slightly lost a step since before the injury.

So do I but it’s a highlight video - the test for Eli is if a decent line and run game allows him to remove the David Carr syndrome he’s been acquiring since 2013- if he can do that we will have a solid offense next year

Eric, fair enough, if you comparing to his Duke passing drill videos then you could say that's a good reference point for this type of video.

I will say though there's something about this editing though that makes all of the players look like are moving a little faster though. I'm not sure exactly what that is.

We still need some sort of a center and a RT. The line isn't completely rebuilt at this point.

It's the same shit we have seen for the past 4 years. We have some pieces, but the whole o-line is still missing pieces that need to be addressed.
