People seem to think that when Eli truly "regresses" that we are going to be able to clearly see it with the naked eye in a video like this. As though one day he's going to throw it and it's just going to come wobbling out and fly 7 yards before falling miserably to the turf. As though he's going to all of a sudden look like the guys in Space Jam after the aliens had secretly stolen their talents.
Speaking of basketball, I remember a Charity Basketball game in my hometown years back that featured former Giants players against our town's firefighters and police officers. This was a solid 5 years after Simms had retired. At one point Simms was inbounding the ball... he palmed the full ball, wound up, and fired it as hard as he good trying to thread the needle to an open Harry Carson in the low post. Man I have never seen a basketball fly that fast in my entire life (not even in NBA games). The ball went right through the window and hit Carson in the hands and flying out of bounds. Simms made some joke about how Carson had butter fingers and he needs to catch that. No doubt he probably threw that ball like that on purpose to show off, but still, it was pretty cool.
You don't think Brett Favre can still throw what looks like a heat-seeking missile when he really wants to? Does that mean he has an NFL-caliber arm? The difference between NFL-level and non-NFL-level arm strength is so miniscule in this game of inches, hence why it's so difficult to know when a player's "time" has come.
is that Eli should be forced to wear pants at all times. The few cuts where he is wearing shorts, the white balance is skewed and the result is a washed out image. Other than that, he looks good.
Nothing wrong with his arm. I have not seen a drop off at all. It is how fast he processes information under pressure now. I think he is a half second slower from the moment he decides where he is going with the ball to his body actually doing what he wants. That half second is an eternity.
Please stop drooling over this. If Eli can't crush these drills after an entire career of doing them he should be put out to stud. PS I would look exceptional doing this drill today. I am over 50 and out of shape.
That said, if we add a RT and the line stays healthy, he will get to stand back there and have an excellent season. He isn't the guy in SF in 2011 NFC playoffs anymore. He doesn't have to be if we protect him.

The Hakeem in this video is former #Giants first-round pick Hakeem Nicks. He has been running routes for Eli Manning as he tries to get back into the league.
Really, you're that going to be that obtuse? You didn't understand that he was facing no pressure and the receivers had no one covering them or impeding their progress? You have not heard the expression "Against Air" before?

You lose all credibility claiming you would look exceptional running these drills, in order to crap on Eli. Maybe try the Giants.com message board?
Perhaps I'm in the minority, but regardless of whether or not these are just passing drills, he's ripping it.
Compare that with some of the Pro Days we just saw.
Definitely not disputing that, I just find it hard to believe his arm strength has somehow gotten better. Does that ever happen? I'm a big Eli fan so hoping he can prove us all wrong.

I think not...and you'd no doubt look foolish trying. If you want to post a personal video, just try that 40 yard out. Say what you want about him, but that video is clear proof of the difference between a professional athlete and a civilian.

He is, because Eli has a big arm, always had it. I remember an Eli/Engram practice video from last year that looked equally as good. Eli's arm vs Jones is joke. It's why I don't buy the comparison. When Eli can set and doesn't have to throw off his back because of pressure he has a cannon. He used to be able to drive the ball off his back foot better than he does now. That is the only scenario I have noticed anything with his arm.

Really, you think I am going to post a video of myself, on this board, so the monsters can attack me personally for my appearance without them sharing their own? Please. I threw with a college QB just 2 years ago and I still had more arm than he did. At that point I had only lost 5 yards on my deep ball. It was still 60 yds and I can hum it for about 35-40. I threw with Randle C. in Las Vegas in college, his arm was a smidgen stronger than mine. I love to throw, I never feel more alive than when I have a football in my hands.

Pretty sure hes become a little shellshocked by the protection provided from such disgraceful bookends like Flowers/Hart/Wheeler
I know they are gone, but people have forgotten just how mindblowingly terrible that OT tandem was. Absolutely awful - no QB was looking good behind them.
My god.

I know its stupid but it just annoys me
+1
No one did those types of drills at their pro day. That was pretty impressive.
I'm not sure I saw him throw that hard last year.
He's trying to. Man, I think we'd be talking about the best WR in Giants history if injuries didn't ruin his career

Nah, Uncle Rico could throw it over mountains. Eli also has terrible accuracy when throwing steaks.

Sure, we believe you.

He looks good. Granted it is not quite an active NFL environment. But, he has some zip on the ball for sure. And, he's accurate.

Note his deep out throws in the video. Those are the throws that separate QBs.
