As most of you know, the Yanks have decided to release Gio Gonzalez, so he's now free to sign elsewhere.
And yes, that's Matt Harvey with the ERA just under 10 pitching for LA tonight. How the mighty have fallen...
In other news, the Yanks have signed Brad Miller to a minor league deal. It is assumed he'll be assigned to SWB.
Miller was actually a pretty highly thought of prospect 5 or so years ago and had a pretty nice 2016 in Tampa. Not expecting much there, but we need bodies and he's still 29 years old.
Sanchez should be activated Wednesday, so he'll be the first back.
Just gotta keep pushing on ahead and Happ needs to keep the fucking ball in the park - he hasn't fared that well in LA.
Let's go, Yanks.
Yup. Although I'm so tired from hosting our family's Easter festivities yesterday that I plan to be asleep by about the second inning!
No reason for the Yanks not to hit him tonight.
Would live to see Voit get right and for Christs sake....Happ has to get it together.
I don't believe Banuelos had pitched in the majors in quite a few years - I was a little surprised to see him get all the way back after such a long gap. It's the O's he's pitching against tonight, so... grain of salt. But, so far so good.
I don't believe a similar re-surfacing will be in the cards for Andrew Brackman, but time really flies.
1-0.
End this!
Happy birfday 9! Way to be born.....yesterday. 😉
It's weird when fans just get a certain narrative about a player that the stats don't back up. He actually has a higher career save % than Rivera and good post season stats. He isn't Rivera. No one is. Rivera was inhuman in the postseason. But that stats show Chapman doesn't fail more often in big spots than other closers and has been one of, if not the best, closer the last 10 years in baseball. You just for whatever reason remember his failures.

Hope your Mom's labor wasn't this long! 😉
The whole time I was watching from the 7th inning on, they managed 2 hits: that's 2 hits in 7 innings. Fortunately they made them count and stole a great win last night. This Urshela guy is a hell of a fielder and he made quite a few incredible plays last night. He factored in on both runs in extras as well.
If I can get a road win on the first day of a west coast road trip trotting out that lineup, I'll take it any way I can get it.
Hopefully German + Loaisiga can get them through 8 (or all 9 tonight) and give the pen some rest. (though Britton should be available).
Fucking impressive.
The very post above details that Chapman can be trusted, yet you ignore it and post this shit like usual.
And still you "smh" in nearly every post.
Chapman has been one of the most reliable relievers in MLB history. There's a trust issue to discuss, but it is more about trusting your fucked up opinion.
This has been a really fun season so far, IMO. I absolutely love watching the younger, no-name players giving it their all and grinding out games.
By the way, that dig and cannon of a throw Urshela made at 3rd was awesome.
I dozed in and out a little bit in the middle of the game but woke up around the 7th and watched the rest of it.
Heck of a job by Holder.
Happ actually turned in a nice outing when all was said and done, so it was good to see him get back on track a bit.
Another character-building win for the Yanks.
Two games in a row where they overcame late adversity.
I'm with UConn... obviously I'd prefer not to be dealing with all of these injuries, but the way the team has continued to battle and find ways to win and have players like Urshela, Tauchman, German, etc. come up big in some big spots... it's been a real testament to the job Cashman does at building depth.
These injuries would have completely sunk a lot of other teams, but if the Yanks can continue to hang in there until they get relatively healthy, it'll make it even sweeter.
I've also noticed that Aroldis Chapman is a bit of a baseball IQ test.
But this season he's walked 1 in 9 innings. Which is really good to see. If that maintains then I don't have many concerns. Looks like he was getting squeezed a bit last night
I think the Cubs did take a bit out of him that he may never get back. As good as he's been in the second stint, it's just a bit less than what he was here in 2016. And that's understandable. He had a 42 pitch three inning save when the Cubs were down 3-1 in the WS. Absolutely legendary stuff that I think gets forgotten because of the home run he gave up in game 7 when he was on fumes. So while we got him back diminished just a bit, he's still very good. If the control maintains then I still don't have many concerns
He was definitely getting squeezed last night. He'd get a called strike inside to a LHB, and then he'd throw the same pitch at the letters and it'd be called a ball.
Still annoying to have Brian fucking Goodwin be the guy who gets you, but... we still found a way.
You can feel the trickle-down effect when Betances isn't manning the 8th inning. As great as our pen is, not having him in that spot - you feel it everywhere else and it doesn't help that Green has struggled so much.
It also looks like Kahnle is maybe going to take Green's "spot" in the pecking order. Boone is using him more and more in leverage spots - I think they feel that he's back to 2017 TK and is past his struggles from last year. So far, so good...
Let's enjoy some Lasagna tonight and get another W.
Hopefully we can get 6-7 out of German/Loaisiga and then piece together the rest.
Green is going to have to get right.
How many players have to jam ankles, shoulders, wrists, and fingers on the bases before the league realizes that having them jammed into the dirt on a steel pole with no give is a bad idea?
There has to be a way for the bases to have a little more give. Too many guys are getting hurt this way. It's fucking ridiculous.
He may DH tonight with Wade moving to the outfield and DJM returning to 2B (and Ford sitting with Voit returning to 1B). I like Ford but he's not hitting much.

It's a balancing act - you also don't want players slipping and falling on bases that break away easily when stepped on.

Fatman -- please tone it down
Post had a story that he didn't take that game seriously :(
