Sources: The #Seahawks and #Chiefs are deep in talks on a trade to send star Frank Clark to KC. The compensation would include a 1st rounder, a 2020 2nd rounder and a swap of mid-rounders. To complete it, the franchise tagged player and Chiefs must hammer out a deal.
Wow
Jay on the Island : 4/23/2019 1:32 pm : link
great return for Seattle. Clark is an excellent pass rusher but he wants Trey Flowers money.
Chiefs
Matt in SGS : 4/23/2019 1:37 pm : link
are on the brink of a Super Bowl. They should go for it. Hell, anyone but the Pats in 2019. And if stupid Ford didn't line up offsides, they'd have gone.
So Clark for:

2019 1st

Swap of 2019 2nd's

2020 2nd

Not bad at all for Seattle.

Still, great return for Seattle.
Just saw it come across as official
kelsto811 : 4/23/2019 1:48 pm : link
So the Chiefs traded Dee Ford for a 2nd and then dumped Houston. I thought bc of cost? Then they trade a 1st and a 2nd for Clark who will be more expensive than Ford, lol
Chiefs shipped Ford off for a 2020 2nd
AcesUp : 4/23/2019 1:48 pm : link
So it's basically Ford and a 1 for Clark. Seems like a weird move but I guess they like the fit with Clark more.
dont know how the Cheifs
Dankbeerman : 4/23/2019 1:48 pm : link
are better off then the were just signing Ford.
Clark is a giant turd

Different kind of player. Clark is stouter at the POA. Ford is more explosive. But KC really struggled against the run last year on defense, probably cost them a trip to the Super Bowl.
Nice move by Scheider...

Seattle is now well armed to replenish some big need areas quickly.
I would be pretty upset

Remember the Chiefs hired Spags at DC. Clark is a true 43 DE in the Spags mold.
yup, shifting to 4-3

Clark is a very good player.

And sending a cloudy message regarding the character exceptions they're willing and not willing to make on their roster.

@RapSheet

That was fast: The #Chiefs agreed to terms with star pass-rusher Frank Clark on a 5-year deal worth $105.5M, source said. $63.5M guaranteed.

Hunt and Hill were also good citizens until they weren't. Huge risk by the Chiefs and quite baffling considering their recent issues with DV.
Clark is a better 2 way player than Ford
Rjanyg : 4/23/2019 2:42 pm : link
With the scheme change it makes sense but that is one hell of a high cost to get him.
Big trade
bluetothegrave : 4/23/2019 2:59 pm : link
Love the trade for Seattle and understand it for KC. I would say right now that Seattle got the better of it. That's a nice haul of picks and now they can use 20 million somewhere else. I think KC will not get back to the AFC Championship game, even with the best QB in the land. Think about what they have lost..the biggest is Hunt imo, tyrek hill may be lost now, Houston, Berry and Ford..wow. Clark is really good but now they don't have that pick so right away its clark vs the picks from this years draft and then its the $ they are tying up in him...interesting. I guess they had to do something to help that shitty d.
The Chiefs still need to lock up Chris Jones
Jay on the Island : 4/23/2019 7:40 pm : link
He is only 24 and had 15.5 sacks last season. He will get more than Clark. This is one of the huge benefits of taking a QB in round 1. You get 5 years to build up the rest of the roster because you're starting QB is making way less than his market value.
Acquiring top shelf pass rushers
WillVAB : 4/23/2019 8:07 pm : link
Is more important than finding a QB now especially in the draft.

Clarks contract averages 21 mil a year, and you need more than one guy to have a viable pass rush.

Building an elite pass rush via the draft is more valuable than a good QB on a rookie contract.
Trading picks
GothamGiants : 4/23/2019 8:10 pm : link
for known commodities in their primes is always an easy decision

The obsession with the false hope of draft picks always amuses e

Excellent move by KC
Clark is underrated
BlueManCrew : 4/23/2019 9:00 pm : link
and I was hoping we'd take a shot at him. Nice return for Seattle and a good player to KC.
Weird game of defensive musical chairs in KC...
Torrag : 4/23/2019 9:26 pm : link
...one thing we know, it wasn't about character or locker room culture. They were so close I just don't get why they fucked with it at all.

Agreed to an extent but they also gave up a lot of money. It wasnt just picks. That said I dont blame the Chiefs one bit.
