I'll say this. If Sy ends up ranking Jones very high, this place is going to be unbearable.
So if a guy who CLEARLY knows his stuff likes him - in other words, knows waaaaaaaay more than you - you're still not going to be convinced he's at least worth a look?

Speedy, BW has forgotten more about QB play than Sy's ever known. Just ask him

I enjoy Sy's opinions, but no.
This isn't a science. It's more art, and very subjective. I am comfortable that I know what a top tiered QB looks like. And Jones doesn't fit that bill.
But I'll certainly will read Sy's thoughts and consider it.
Not the way I hope he sees it though. Cause the more I read about Jones the more I like him. And I don't ever seeing the Giants taking Murray even if he's on the board for them.
I'll say this. If Sy ends up ranking Jones very high, this place is going to be unbearable.
Aaaah, the resident expert on all things football. So what if Sy ranks Jones high? I can say for certain he hes done a helluva lot more homework on draft prospects than you have. Sy has admitted when he was wrong on prospects in the past, unlike you who will disappear when proven wrong.
I have no clue how Sy'56 will rank the current class of QBs... Â
...but I would take an educated guess at what his "NYG APPROACH" section will recommend. Sy'56 graded Josh Rosen at 89 last year, and I think he has mentioned that nothing Rosen did in 2018 affected that assessment much.
I doubt any of the 2019 entrants will come close to Rosen's grade. If that's the case, well, the rest just comes down to haggling over price - assuming, of course, that Arizona takes Murray.

I'll accept Sy's opinion, which I'm sure will be reasoned and measured, but still think he's wrong.
Rosen was in a tough situation and we will eventually know if he was good or not.. either way you can't judge now.. SY was also just as high on Mayfield (+- couple of points) and looking back Mayfield did great.. anyhow my guess is:
1. Murray
2. Grier
3. Haskins
4. Lock
5.. Someone else but not Jones..
sees in his analysis but we should be very grateful that he shares his work with all of us. We are lucky to have him.
Three QB's intrigue me:
Murray: He seems to have it all except size; can't imagine the excitement with him and Barkley playing together. The other red flag is whether he can handle media in NY. He would get my pick at 6 in a heartbeat.
Haskins: He has an accurate and strong arm and has shown good leadership skills. He wants to be a star for the Giants. His one year does not scare me. His mobility and weight could be a concern.
Jones: He may be the best of the bunch or he may be a bust. He seems to have a good football mind and the toughness needed for the NFL. I am always concerned if the QB does not have a strong arm though I do not watch enough college to know this.
I will be happy with any of these guys but Sy will know much more and I look forward to his analysis. Since I like these three, he will probably like Lock, Grier, and Stidham better and I won't argue.
Just based on what I've heard from Dan Shonka, GM/Scout for Ourlads' NFL Scouting, and what he's said on some podcasts/mock drafts of late. I wouldnt doubt if Sy lined with Dan and the Ourlads mock.
They have the Giants taking Haskins, Jawaan Taylor, Jaylon Ferguson @ 6,17,37 Ourlads Mock Draft - ( New Window )
2 offensive players in this class would be beyond stupid ... sign me up for Ferguson @ 37 though (even with 2 picks on D in round 1)
He had Rosen 1 and Allen 5. He seemed to prioritize quick release, accuracy, and arm strength and he seemed to discount QBs who lack arm strength.
I'll go with...
1. Dwayne Haskins
2. Kyler Murray
3. Drew Lock
4. Will Grier
5. Daniel Jones
During the Rose Bowl this year between OSU and Washington, there was a game thread. While there were a lot of posters raving about Haskins, Sy very subtly mentioned that there were some things that were troubling. Footwork and mechanics, I think, were two of those concerns. So at least for that game, Sy wasn't drinking the Haskins Kool-Aid.

That's a great point. If he didn't like Haskins footwork and mechanics in that game, it wasn't better earlier in the year. Kyler has so many risks, can he be #1? I'm excited to find out.
Let me start off by saying 2 things. One, this QB class isn’t close to what the 2018 QB class was. Two, Josh Rosen is a couple tiers above all these guys and as I said in February, I am willing to give up a 1st round pick for him if it came down to that. If WAS offered their 15th overall pick, can NYG maybe offer #6 and get back Rosen plus ARI #33 overall? I think it is a bargain to pay for a franchise QB. If you told me last year at this time that NYG could have Rosen AND Barkley AND 3 picks in the top 37 of the 2019 draft, I am not even thinking about it. That is a no brainer in my eyes.
Sy makes that be wrong, but his opinion deserves respect.
Anyway, those who said Haskins - Jones - Lock - Murray/Finley win a Kliff Kingsbury bobblehead.
