.@AZCardinals Coach Kliff Kingsbury just said the team has not finalized the top pick in Thursday’s draft: “We’re still working through things. It is a process. I wouldn’t say the hay is in the barn.”
Even a kindergartner would find this embarrassing. Of course they know EXACTLY what they’re doing and they have for many weeks now, perhaps longer. What may not be determined is who the trade partner is or will be if they move Rosen.

Your hero Gettleman was saying the other day he was still working on his draft board.
I actually think Arizona is getting some interesting offers for the top slot and are seriously considering them.

They have 48 hours to get the best offer they can... any offer on the table should be removed once they turn in the Kyler card... take what u can now, is what I would do...

Even if you haven't made up your mind you don't admit it in the media. Though I am not sure how it is possible they have not made up their mind about Kyler vs Rosen.
Also, don't believe the nonsense that if they draft Murray they will get nothing for Rosen. All it takes to get a good return for Rosen is two or more bidders.

Then DG is full of shit. Tweaking it? Absolutely, all teams do, right up yo and through the draft.
But the Cards have the number one pick. No one can pick ahead of them or move up to do so. We’re not talking about the final board. We’re talking about them knowing exactly what they’re going to do with the number one pick, unless someone pulls a Ditka for them

Wow. What a dumb take. You honestly believe this post you typed?

You act as if Kingsbury cares what comes out of his mouth at this stage. The whole point is that he would say this no matter what they were doing.

he could say a million things. Saying we don't know is among the worst things he can say. Here are better things for him to say:
1) no comment
2) wait and see Thursday night
3) we're locked and loaded
blah blah blah
the worst thing you can say is ummm we havent decided yet. That is completely stupid.
Rosen has taken a lot of crap this offseason, but the ... Â
... problem here is the Cardinals. They hire a HC that was fired as a college HC and heading to be a college OC. This decision was made by the same FO that was so damn brilliant they hired a HC that lasted 12 months in the same offseason they moved up for Rosen. The Cardinals are out of control and out of their minds.
I am all for trading #37 for Rosen. He has a better arm than all these QBs and is dirt cheap. I keep hearing how bad he looked last year. How the fuck did Eli look during 2004? In the grand scheme of QBs, it’s a low-risk move.
This may be exactly what is going on. The NFL - in their infinite wisdom - want to keep the "mystery" going.
So we think the NFL is telling the coach of the Cards what to say and keeping a trade on hold in order to gin up ratings? So what happens if a deal is worked out between the Cards and another team and then Rosen falls off a treadmill and breaks his arm? I guess I wouldn't be shocked if the NFL tried to put a cap on trades but I sure wouldn't play along if I wanted a trade done.
I forget where I heard it, but someone told me a little while back that the NFL would pressure the Cards to keep some mystery alive with this pick. Take it for what it is worth.
We know exactly what we're going to do? then any potential leverage is gone.
I think what we’re saying (or at least what I’m saying) is that of course he’s going to say what they all say, it’s just that there isn’t a fan in the world who doesn’t believe he’s full of shit.
This may be exactly what is going on. The NFL - in their infinite wisdom - want to keep the "mystery" going.
That’s exactly what’s going on. Not good for business to have the first pick basically announced before Thursday. Those advertising $$ aren’t worth as much if that happens. Remember last year when Gettleman had to wait 5 minutes to submit the Barkley pick so they could show one more commercial set?
I forget where I heard it, but someone told me a little while back that the NFL would pressure the Cards to keep some mystery alive with this pick. Take it for what it is worth.
I think Matt in SGS posted a while back that he knew someone from OU who said this was a done deal, and the NFL was making them keep it quiet. Maybe that’s what you are thinking.
Honestly, it wouldn’t surprise me if AZ already has a deal worked out for Rosen.

It becomes more of an auction if they decide to draft Murray but I think the NFL ownership as a whole is making a point and that point is: "If you think you can draft players in the first round then trade them the following year for 1st round picks... that's not going to happen!". You would be rewarding teams for gambling on talent. You need to punish teams for making stupid draft choices. That's why you offer the Cardinals nothing more than a 3rd round pick. "You want to take Murray? Go ahead, now you are desperate to get rid of Rosen because you have to pay him a big rookie contract deal. He's a top 10 pick in the draft. Good luck with that... or take a 3rd round pick". They would get a lot more if they traded that pick to someone like the Raiders. Say the Raiders want Haskins and are afraid the Giants would jump them. They could trade with the Raiders for most likely one of their late 1st round picks this year and have a great chance of still grabbing Murray at 4. Then trade Rosen for whatever peanuts you can get. If the highest offer is a late 2nd round or 3rd round pick you do it.
Even if you haven't made up your mind you don't admit it in the media. Though I am not sure how it is possible they have not made up their mind about Kyler vs Rosen.

That's a fair criticism on some level. I don't get too caught up in the particular slang CEO speak he's using. But, if you think that impacts the team, have at it.

AZ has the 1st pick in the draft. They can pick whomever they want.
There should be no mystery or uncertainty in that draft room two days before the draft.
Ever said any differently? I don’t see this as news at all. Maybe they want more for Rosen, maybe they want San Fran to trade up to #1, who knows but I’m sure there is still working being done in Arizona, and will continue right through draft night. What else would anyone expect the coach to say?

a public admission that you do not know what you are going to do two days before the draft serves no purpose and does not help your leverage.

+2.
The 9ers are on the clock as far as I’m concerned. It is adorable how the Cardinals try and pretend to be an NFL front office though.
Murray is the pick, no one’s offering a top pick for Rosen, and this BS isn’t gonna help.
