Obviously the worry here is that Clint isn't in the lineup after tweaking his ankle last night.
He did finish the game after he was hurt and I'm sure this decision was against his will. Hopefully we're just being cautious here.
Sanchez began his rehab assignment yesterday - should be activated tomorrow and be back behind the dish.
My guess is that Boone is going to want to avoid going to Otto, Holder, and Chappy tonight. So, Britton is probably going to be our leverage guy tonight. I assume he'll close if need be, or come in an inning or two earlier if it's a tight spot and we need to get through an inning.
Let's go, Yanks.
Bummer he got shot last season. Probably could have helped.
Holy fuck, this team is dealing with enough adversity than to have to deal with a reliever choking away a 7-1 lead.
Literally inexplicable.
Literally inexplicable.
Its the same shit Boone pulled against Boston in the playoffs. Just a complete lack of feel for the game.
Didnt Britton pitch the last two games?
Fantastic frame for Britton. Nice and easy.
Somehow this team just keeps chugging along...
It’s hilarious how many Yankee fans on a message board think they can manage a Major League Baseball team.
If he can't use Green then he shouldn't be on the team (and maybe he shouldn't be at this point but that's not on Boone).

Fans are always like that. They all hate the manager and think they are smarter.

I thought with the way he's been struggling, Boone would've been happy with the one out in the 7th from Green. Build on that for his next outing but bring someone else in for the start of the 8th. I thought for sure he was going to bring in Harvey for the 8th with Britton to close.
I'll be happier when I don't have to watch Tyler Wade get 3-4 AB's a night anymore.
Someone will have to step up and be the hero again tonight.
Recently it's been Tauchman, Urshela... maybe tonight is Mike Ford's night.
Great call!!!
FWIW, I'm usually not the guy who whines about the manager and picks apart every single move. I just didn't understand how Chad Green was left in there to not only load the bases, but then also face Justin Bour.
Guys are just sitting on his fastball right now and he obviously isn't able to get people out. They're going to need to bury him until he can figure out what the issue is... he's totally unusable in leverage spots right now.
I understand going to him with the 6 run lead, but once a couple of guys get on and he hasn't recorded an out, Cessa has to be in there. It's not worth letting it even get that close.
(Side note... Gio is crushing Marlins Man right now. I guess I'm not the only one who can't stand him.. hah)
The starting pitching has been fantastic. Some of the middle relievers are struggling a little, but the pitching is really pulling us through this patch here.
Happ is slowly starting to normalize, Tanaka has been very good, Paxton has been straight up elite his last 2 times out, CC has been very solid, and German may be an emerging star.
If I had the option, I'd take all the injured guys back like... yesterday. But part of me is really enjoying this "next man up" campaign and the way the team just keeps finding ways.
Really a testament to Brian Cashman and the job he's done at building depth within this org. To lose basically a 90-win team worth of starters and have the worst rash of injuries the league has seen in.... I don't know, I can't really remember a worse one recently.... and now have won 5 games in a row and be 3 games over .500... I think it's impressive and it's going to help this team build a lot of character.
I'm fairly certain that if most other teams in the majors lost this many starters, they'd completely torpedo.
If we can keep fighting through this, it will bode well later in the year and will pay dividends.
This is true, but this is a symptom of a larger issue - which is that his secondary stuff isn't good enough to carry him when his 4-seamer isn't working.
And it's not working this year. So, he's just getting destroyed.
Axisa thinks he may be IL bound and might just not be 100% healthy right now - says that's probably more likely than being sent to Scranton.
Albin @ RAB did a pretty extensive write up on Green and his FB yesterday.
Things could not have worked out better for Tampa in April, and the Yankees' luck could hardly be worse, and yet the deficit in the standings is only 2.5 games. I'll take it. Sanchez is back, Stanton will be back soon, things are looking up.
German always had a high ceiling. If he's really figured out how to pitch, he could be a damned good starter long-term.
He had the same surgery the beg. of last year with the
Rays, he was out eight weeks then. They are saying six this time? Guess the second time, it's a bit different.
He has already had two TJ surgeries, one while he was still
in high school, interesting that he still throws that hard.
I didn't want the Yanks to sign him, I know that.
down to AAA for a few weeks, just to get straightened out.
Secondly, he can work on his change or split or some secondary pitch not called a slider.
I am surprised that Rothschild hasn't told Green to get rid of that slider, find another secondary pitch,
Green has been around here for three years...

I thought Harvey was sent back to Scranton.
Something's obviously up with him. May well be injury. But, they've got to figure it out now. Can't use him in anything other than mop-up duty right now.
Tarpley would be the most logical guy to call back up and replace him if he were pitching well, but he hasn't been pitching well thus far. Not sure we really have many other options, though.

Yes, Harvey was optioned back to SWB.

Maybe Green comes up with 'forearm stiffness', they could recall Harvey, if they put Green on IL.
They just sent him down, due to 'injury', I believe they can recall him. I heard next year they are going back to the 15 day IL.
Right now it's like Green is banging his head against the wall, a break couldn't hurt...
Sanchez was activated.
And it is Tarpley who is back up.

That's two up and only one down. I think Higgy is back down as well.

Ah well that explains it. Lol. Not sure how I missed that move and it puts the kabosh on my thinking last night re Green.
