Many fans debate, argue, and lobby for months before the actual draft even happens - some do it all year round. I'm not talking about the real scouts (Sy, Dave Te, etc.), I'm referring to just about everyone else.
I think it's obvious that there's a psychological component to this. I get that fans "live vicariously" through their rooting interests; but when draft obsessing goes on for months, it seems like it's beyond normal fandom.
I'd like to know if any BBIers with psych backgrounds, professional or otherwise, think about this. Does it stem from a subconscious desire to improve ourselves? Is it because we subconsciously want to re-live the excitement that we had as kids anticipating new toys at Christmas/birthdays? Is this something on the OCD spectrum?
Therapy suggestions are welcome.
Legit funny! I like the 'hope for the future" theory...and I agree that it's also a lot of fun, I've done that draft simulator site dozens of times.
Can't wait for the draft but won't get attached to any player until the Giants pick them.
Seriously, I retired last year and have nothing better to do.
