The Giants aren't forcing a QB pick. If he's there at #17 then he's part of the discussion for that pick.
Another thing people should understand is that if several teams like the Dolphins, Redskins, and perhaps even the Raiders take a QB this year. That's one less team to compete with for a QB next year in next year's draft class. Of the teams projected to be the worst teams next year at the top of your list you have teams like the Bills, Jets, Arizona, Dolphins, etc. Teams that will already have their QB of the future on their franchise having spent a 1st round pick them. The Giants will have a ton less competition for getting a QB in 2020 if people go QB crazy in the first round this year.
That's why I think they play it cool with Jones. Where they can sit there at 17 and if he's off the board, neat. Now its going to be even easier to get Tua/Herbert next year. Just take the best player off the board and continue your re-build. Lots of spots needed for this team to have any chance the next couple of years. We know one thing as of right now. Eli is playing this season's schedule. A QB is not a need as of right now adding another one is simply a luxury. But we do need a RT, a 5 tech, and upgrade at LB. Some added CBs for nickle defense.
But I think the Giants are willing to draft 1 or 2 or 3 players ahead of Jones. If those guys are off the board, Jones is the pick at #6 and the rest of the draft is defense heavy. Youll see alot of Edge/CB/OLB taken.

I'm starting to feel like all the QBs are going to slide, maybe beginning with Murray. I think teams will ultimately decide that this QB draft class just isn't that good and the defensive talent is strong throughout the first round.
think Murray, Haskins, Lock, and Jones will all go in the top 15. Teams typically overvalue QBs. This year is no different. The question is whether the Giants will trade up from #17. I hope they do not, because doing so will cost at least #37. DG has said he wants more picks in rounds two and three.
franchise back five years! If he gets picked in the first round he gets at least three years to fail. Also with any QB pick in the first round you are out on all the top QB prospects for next year as well. This guy was a walk on who was not a big time prospect coming out of high school. On top of that no year above 3,000 yards and 59% completions for his career. Picking this guy in the first round is GM suicide!

Q williams
J Allen
N Bosa

D Jones
in that order.

It would shock me....and I like him.
We can draft a lot of good players this year and then fork over a ton of picks to mive up for a QB next year.
I think DG finishes his goal of the front 7s and we have to extend Eli a few years until we can draft a guy.
Same! And I am a DG apologist!

Shut up. You know nothing, dupe.
Scary thought.

I think the Giants might actually have Daniel Jones at the top of their board and they'd take him #1 overall if they had that pick.

Best take on Eli Jones Ive seen. Very much in line with Sys review
Don't do it Gettleman
