Is Hockenson a consideration?

Top 6-8 talent according to most analysts. Gold jacket potential. Helps with blocking and receiving. Could be a devastating receiving combo with Engram in two tight end sets, which could become our base offense. Am I nuts, or could the Giants consider this?
No

But I doubt it.
Hock is slated to be in consideration for Jax at #7.

It will be a toss up between Jawaan Taylor or Hock.
Part of my theory is

Gettleman's belief that the top few picks should be used on players who have the potential to be superstars. There really aren't that many players in this draft who have that potential. Gettleman could shock us all. I really believe it. I can see the press conference now. Gettleman being all old school and talking about Bavaro and Giant tradition and how he's going to make the running game even more devastating.

Do I think it's the most likely pick? No. But I'm rooting for it because the BBI reaction would be priceless. A team will take him in the top ten. That is likely I think.
Would love Hockenson

at 17. Too many needs for 6 unfortunately. Guy looks great and IMO is exactly what we need on Offense to establish a new identity of being a run first team.

He'll be long gone by then.
Could happen

Let's look at what Gettleman is insisting about avoiding using the first pick for need and sticking to BPA. When six rolls around, there's a good chance that Hockenson is there as the clear BPA. Maybe generational like Saquon.

Now, let's take into account that teams like the Pats and Chiefs stake a lot their success on fielding two tight ends in 12 personnel and one of those is a star like Gronk (was) and Kelce.

Imagine a "12" package with Evan and TJ. Evan acts like a hybrid WR and you only need Golden and Sterling (nice ring to that pairing of names!) to round it out. No need for a featured WR like OBJ, is there?

Also, let's not discount the fact that Hockenson will play all four downs as a big-time blocker, almost like an extra tackle! So it could be argued that there's a need there, too, when it comes to blocking especially on the runs.

Also, there's enough defensive talent in this draft to still grab a stud at 17 and then perhaps Grier at QB in the next round.

All of which is to say, I have no problems with TJ at six.
I hope not. He's a good blocker when he engages, but he misses

a lot of blocks. He's an ok receiver. I wouldn't take him anywhere in the 1st round.
