Flying up Draft Board

Alex_Webster : 4/25/2019 9:53 am
Falling fast. Can this really be true? I just think most people have boards set or close to being set. Is flying going from 3rd round to Top 10 pick? and the reverse on falling. Do guys really move that much ? Even 10 spots seems a little far fetched at this point. Maybe instead lying season this should be the cliche'season. I would say after combine and interviews guys grade change could move a couple of points. Is that really enough to change position in draft? Even Sy's grades on QB's were all within 10 points roughly. With about 30 points being close to top grade to bottom of draft. What is flying up and falling fast?
Lots of buzz regarding Devin Bush moving up draft boards

Which would suck, because he would be a perfect pick for us at 17.
Bush at #6

Will be the only way the Giants get him, IMV. He'll definitely be gone before 17.
Better then saying

The pros knew better then the talking heads
It to me means
jvm52106 : 4/25/2019 9:57 am : link
the so called "experts" are now hearing where teams have a guy rated so they say he is "flying" up or "falling" down. when in reality it just means they (the expert) had no idea what they were talking about.
No one is flying

It's writers learning more and realizing prospects that weren't "hot" names are more highly valued than they realized.

It's the media catching up with what teams really think.

This, When you think about it how could a player "fly" up draft boards when they haven't played in months?
Bush

He is who I've wanted at 17 for a while. Lets hope he somehow falls to us. I know it's unlikely. I like him equally to white. He isn't even 21 yet and you can't beat him to the edge. He would be amazing in any defense. His speed and love of the game come out in every play. Love the kid.

And I’d be totally fine with this ... bush at 6, Lawrence at 17 ... giddy up

I get it,I just think its ridiculous, how much it becomes headlines.Just shows the difference between talking head evaluations vs pro's evaluation or it could even be the Scouts vs the Decisions makers.

A friend and I tried to do a mock board for the Giants and he has Bush over White I don’t know much about what the NFL teams think so I’m not totally sure who’s the better player. I’d be okay with Bush at 6. I’d love Lawrence at 17 and imo IF Jones is taken at 6, the only way I’m okay with it as a fan is if Lawrence or Bush fall to 17.

Exactly. I am sure that scouts see the phrase "flying up" and laugh.

Guys might drop because something comes out last minute, like a gas mask bong or a murder investigation.
The NFL coach I spoke with before the combine
bradshaw44 : 4/25/2019 10:31 am : link
told me most teams boards are all but set before the combine. Said their is minimal movement based on the combine and pro days. These kids have been scouted for years. They know what they can do.

Thats good to hear because I like what DG did last year and maybe our personnel selection will continue to improve . A solid draft here could help us become competitive sooner rather than later.

Me too
Agree

Bush and Lawrence would be fine, then you add Tillery in there and away we go on defense. I think the Giants can add a vet cornerback if they need to fill in for a year. But one look at the depth chart tells you we NEED two defensive linemen, and I am not a big fan of our inside linebackers, Ogletree is fine, if he had Bush alongside him.
Good post

It's a pet peeves of mine.

It's just the media phrasing it as if teams are changing their evaluation. Instead the media was just wrong and they're adjusting.

That was my thought initially. I agree with totally, even if they do move it can't be much maybe 2-3 points on grade. Just my guess.
