Dottino on WFAN

Thinks Allen drops down to 6 and NYG should sprint to podium.

Then thinks NYG and Baltimore trade (although he personally would look at Ferrell here). Ravens up to 17 for Bradbury. NYG to 22 for Jones and Baltimore 3rd (no. 85).

Followed up with Kaleb McGary at #37.

Wonder if Dottino likes Jones as much as he loved "heir-apparent" Webb

Obviously love Allen at 6. Also love McGary at 37
j_rud : 4/25/2019 11:19 am : link
We'd have a few big nasty bastards with Hernandez, Zeitler, and McGary. OL would be completely revamped in talent and attitude from the last few seasons Keystone Kops.

Dottino doesn’t know shit

I like the guy but he’s just there to give his opinion, be a cheerleader and do softball interviews with players.
I would love this to happen

I want Allen

but I feel like I am being set up for disappointment by more and more people saying he will be there at 6.
Dottino is confirming jt's information
Chris684 : 4/25/2019 11:21 am : link
that there's no way Gettleman stays put from early 2nd to late 3rd.

Look for a pick/s between 37 and 95.
if we want Jones
UConn4523 : 4/25/2019 11:22 am : link
trading back to take him is a flat out risk. I get not taking him at 6, but we can't assume he'd be on the board at 22.

Dottino's kind of a clown.

"Homer the Clown," if you will. But he's a good clown.

22 for Jones is good ? would rather still keep 17 pick and trade 37 for Rosen
Gettleman hinted at a trade himself last week
Oscar : 4/25/2019 11:23 am : link
Into the late second or early third. He all but said “I would like to trade into that area of the draft”.
I can totally see a trade down at 17 to collect Day Two picks

Trading 17 back
huygens20 : 4/25/2019 11:26 am : link
Is NOT a signal we are going def at 6.

Maybe the trigger for trading 17 is if jones is taken at 6.

I read this too fast. I would like trading down with the 2nd 1st rounder to pick up an extra third but not for Jones.
I don't think Gettleman trades down at all
Ten Ton Hammer : 4/25/2019 11:33 am : link
If he likes Jones, he'll take him. If you are so meh on a QB that you trade down, it means you don't like him that much.

BleedBlue : 4/25/2019 11:33 am : link
Allen at 6
Jones at 22 and picking up extra picks is GREAT

Like Dottino but

He would just be a JAG on this site. He knows nothing really. He is a nice guy and definitely loves his job and puts in the work so good for him but I have about 20 posters on this site who's opinion I value more than his.

Dottino is a nice enough guy
Matt in SGS : 4/25/2019 11:43 am : link
but he's a media member that I generally refer to as "he works for the school paper". He's there to write softball stories and interviews. He is there to provide information that the team wants to get out. He's not going to make waves and with a 30+ year career in and around the Giants organization, why would he. He will provide some air time on WFAN and Giants broadcasts. He's not there to be controversial. Essentially he's the polar opposite of a Pat Leonard, who is there to do nothing else but be a complete dick and start shit/make shit up. But at the end of the day, neither of them is really plugged in.
Dottino s opinion on drafting any
joeinpa : 4/25/2019 11:45 am : link
Quarterback the last two years, is entirely shaped by any scenario that gives Eli the best opportunity to be successful and to remain the Giants quarterback.

The Giants can't "sprint to the podium"
Mr. Bungle : 4/25/2019 11:50 am : link
because the teams don't go to the podium, Goodell does.

Why do so many people say that?

Doubt it, I think he still keeps Webb’s photo in his wallet. LOL

I heard someone on NFL Radio propose a similar trade. The thinking is that none of the teams drafting 18-21 are going to take a QB.

That may be true, but other teams can make trades to jump in front of #22, so it's not that simple. New England is also looking for Brady's successor, and they have LOTS of picks.
He really irks me

Such a homer. Really said he could see Webb being as successful as any of the top 4 qbs last year. Now on the practice squad behind a Darnold, lmao. He was in disbelief when we cut him.

That's a nice way to put it. He never has a negative thing to say about the team. Remember back to this time last year. Leading up to the draft Dottino said that the Giants would not take a QB because Webb was the long term answer.
