for me is that everyone is raging about this yet 90% of you schmucks have never watched this kid play. You are basing your opinions entirely on the opinions of others and fucking YouTube videos. Considering that fact it becomes apparent that these huge over-the-top reactions are completely ridiculous.
I would say it is the opposite - whoever drafted him never watched him play. I went to Duke and watched all or part of most of his games, and I have never viewed him as an NFL starting QB. To me this is a case of evaluating measurable over actual game play, which never works out well. In his Senior Day game he threw for 145 yards and got rolled 59-7 by a Wake Forest team whose defense couldn't stop anyone all year. Drafting him at 6 is a horrible pick.
Fair enough, but you would be in the minority. You and I both know that the vast majority of these guys are talking out their ass.
The Giants obviously had this kid scouted better than any other team based on the connections from Eli and add in that Jones was slinging it at the recent Manning camp with Barkley, Shepard and Nicks - so there is potential feedback and input that could be gathered from several players on Jones in real time - not tape.
The kid is tough, smart, an above average athlete that can run fast for a QB and has a quick release with very good touch.
Still hate the pick. Simply put, if Jones is who many here think he is, the regime won’t be around very long. I hope he gets about 25 games worth of evaluation before the end of 2020. If he sucks, maybe we’re in on the Trevor Lawrence sweepstakes in the spring of 2021.
It's a given.

He was the Senior Bowl MVP. GIANTS always draft the Senior Bowl MVP, we've done it the two previous drafts, why stop now.
It would be another mistake as well.
Paraphrasing Sam Elliot from Gettysburg- "I've led a Giants Fan's life, and I've never seen anything as brutally clear as this. It's as if I can actually see the Giants in one long, bloody moment, goin' up the long carpet to the stage. As if it were already done... already a memory. An odd... set... stony quality to it. As if the draft has already happened and there's nothin' you can do about it. The way you sometimes feel before an ill-considered draft pick, knowin' it'll fail, but you cannot stop it. You must even take part, and help it fail."
But my YouTube analysis indicates that Daniel Jones was overdrafted Â
This is the way I see it too. Giants can’t win here:
1. They take Jones at 6 & it is a massive reach.
2. If they take Jones at 17, well why didn’t you take him at 6 if you liked him so much?
3. If they don’t go QB, I can’t believe this team still hasn’t addressed QB.
Bottom line: the Giants think Daniel Jones is a franchise QB. Either they will be proven right & no one cares he went 6. Or they are wrong & a new regime is in place. No guts, no glory.

We needed a QB last year, and Gettleman took a RB. I know that was last year, but Gettleman put us in this spot to begin with.
Jones is a massive reach at 6, based on any stats factor you want to look up. I'd argue taking him at 17 would be reach too, given his mediocrity but there isn't any doubt that Josh Allen would have been a better player at 6. The central fallacy to your straw man is that Gettleman is (most likely) wrong about Jones being a franchise QB. He doesn't get any credit for going after the guy he wants when that guy is the wrong one.
Jones was not a "massive reach" he was picked by pretty much everyone to be selected in the top 15 or so picks. If Giants liked him the best, and he plays QB, who cares if they take him earlier.

Stop it. If they took Allen and then Jones nobody would have complained about not taking Jones at 6.
I also don’t get this notion that people who wanted to draft a QB over the last two years have to be enamored with the pick.

Jones was the fifth-ranked QB according to PFF. That is not a QB you pick at 6. In this draft, that puts him in round 2. Why did they rank him so low? The only recent QB prospect he ranks higher than is Josh Allen. PFF takes into account the terrible team around him.

I think there is practically no chance if Jones dropped to 17 and he was the choice, your no. 2 scenario would evoke complaints.
That's basically what everyone who's complaining wanted.
When teams are desperate for a QB and panic, they overvalue and reach Â
It happens every year. Unfortunately we were the team to do so this year. My guess is this will all probably end badly, but let’s give the kid a chance.
No one serious on BBI has expressed any interest in taking a QB for the sake of it.
This is flat out false. There were a lot of people during the season last year saying it was time to chang the guard and it didnt matter who the QB was. I argued this all fall and winter.
If Allen was off the board, would you still hate this pick? For me, the answer is no. The X factor was that Allen dropped to #6. But, I don't hate Jones overall.
At least it's based on some statistical analysis. But feel to post your own analysis of his numbers and why he's worth the 6th pick. Or just point to his awesome games against Temple.

Yes. If Allen was gone it should have been White, Oliver or Haskins.

Yes. You choose another defender. That is the strength of this draft.
I just watched a 16 minute YouTube video and this kid is special. He can run, he can move laterally out of the pocket, he has touch, and he can take a hit while throwing under duress. I am now convinced he will be a BEAST. great job DG...I can now see why Gil Brandt loves him so much....called him another Peyton Manning!

Its has been reported that the majority of the NFL teams had him as the 2nd best QB in the draft. Thats good enough for me.

A lot of pluses for Jones, I'm rooting for him.
I always give benefit of the doubt. At least he didn't play at Moorehead State, right?
Bingo.

Do you guys even think he was worth taking in the first round at all?
clearly they thought someone else would snag him before 17.

This guy is turning the Giants into the damn Browns. Has no plan whatsoever

But I can't wait for more Gettleman press conferences where he praises his 'maturity.' I'm so glad Gettleman would lend him his car.

His MPH is as good if not better than many of his peers that play now in the NFL.
