In 1992, when the Giants' 2 time SB winning QB was 37 years old the Giants took his heir apparent in the 1st round out of Duke. He wore jersey #17.
In 2019, when the Giants' 2 time SB winning QB was 38 years old the Giants took his heir apparent in the 1st round out of Duke. He will wear jersey #17 (likely).
And let's hope the similarities end there!
Anyone else see any similarities not mentioned here?
P.S. - I just think it's funny so many people are pointing back to when we took Simms at #7 in '79 and how mad everyone was about that, "look at how great that turned out blah blah blah". I'm posting this in part to show that you can just as well compare this pick to Dave Brown as you can Phil Simms. Simms turning out to be good has nothing to do with how Daniel Jones's career is going to turn out, no matter how bad you want it to. Similarly, I'm not saying Daniel Jones is the next Dave Brown, I just thought the similarities here were interesting.
There's literally nothing to be gained by comparing the two guys. It's an exercise in futility.
Jones will have WAAAAAAAY better coaching game plans and talent around him than poor ol' Dave EVER had with the Giants
I can see that, actually. That's a good comp for Jones.
It’s funny that so many posters think they know more than DG and PS in evaluating talent. Time will tell.
PS ... personally I wanted Rosen, but it is what it is and we shall see.
I didn't see that, but when I watched him the first time, I thought the same thing. I really thought he could be Trubisky. He is a very good athlete. Don't like the pick, but I thought Trubisky or Tannehill were the two I saw.
I don't like the pick either, but not because he's Dave Brown. More like because he's Ryan Tannehill
