I want to be an optimist. Life is to short to be negative. I saw a couple of Duke games & never came away thinking he was a top 10 pick, but maybe I'm wrong.
So, you Jones fans, tell me why I'm wrong. There's some here. I hope this kid makes me eat crow.

I like Jones a lot actually - passing on Allen was just mind blowing to me. Jones has a lot o like about him, glad they didn’t reach on Haskins

You’re a fucking insufferable poster
Here is the other thing Josh Allen was on the board... This isn't a we took a QB to take a QB. No one would have thought twice if we took Josh Allen. We took him because we had him rated as one of the highest players in the draft. Other teams were said to love Jones and wanted to move up to take him.
If you said at the beginning of the night we'd get Lawrence at #6 and Jones at #17, I don't think there'd be too much hand wringing, so the argument is more about positional value than anything else.
Jones has to become a franchise guy or the pick likely blows.

Sorry there is no sugar coating it. Will go down as the worst pick and biggest reach in franchise history. Taking a day 3 guy at 6 overall. Doesn’t get any worse. Fire gettleman!

I am. So I can tell you I told you so. HE FUCKING SUCKS!!
LOL. 365 more days of this?
We didn't take your guy!! Fire everyone!!!

I’d love nothing more than for the majority of bbi’ers, myself included, to look like complete horses’ asses in 2 years.
My buddy (the entire family is die hard Giants fans, like me) says...he actually think he is more Peyton then Eli. The kid refuses to fail. Brighter then everyone. Works harder then everyone.
Now, He feels....it would have been so much better at 17, instead of 6. As no one else was chasing him.
My buddy son spent last weekend at Duke with him
This actually makes me feel a little better. I value Brandt’s opinion more than just about anyone’s

He's not accurate. Sorry but he's not. Statistically he's not accurate at all, and watching the cutups, he's not great a ball placement he's constantly hitting the receivers high or on the back hip and not in stride. I suppose that's the receivers fault.
His arm is borderline. His deep outs float, he doesn't drive them at all.

I don't think I saw Lawrence going as high as #6 anywhere. But then again a lot of people wanted Sweat at #6 and Jones at #17 and the Giants passed on Sweat for Lawrence. At the end of the day I guess we know who's going to be a hit and who's going to be a miss.
Still would have been nice to have Allen, though.
Like another poster said, put him behind that Ohio line and he would've most likely been touted as a top 5 pick.

Let’s be fair for a moment. You don’t like Jones either. You’ve posted such for weeks.
Some well respected scouts like Jones, I like Jones after digging into him a lot (Manning connect, Senior Bowl MVP - so predictable)
I’ll put it this way, if Josh Allen was gone I’d feel a lot better about the pick. It’s just hard for me to fathom the idea that they could’ve instantly fixed their defensive front 7 overnight, but oh well.
Jones is not the bum some want to proclaim he is. He’s got talent

I don't know what the fuck you were seeing. His throws were there. His teammates fukin dropped everything.
They interview his family and coaches. Everybody raves about him.

No poster is insufferable for bitching about this pick. Did you read the NY Post Article on this. Here are a couple quotes:
It is almost as if the Giants searched for the closest quarterback they could find to Manning. Jones is something of a Manning clone, except coming into the NFL he is not viewed anywhere close to the top-end prospect Manning was in 2004. Jones looks a bit like Manning and was coached at Duke by David Cutcliffe, Manning’s coach at Ole Miss and big brother Peyton Manning’s position coach at Tennessee.
“He’s got a lot of the same mannerisms as Eli,’’ an NFL source and talent evaluator who specializes in quarterbacks told The Post. “After he throws he has the shoulder shrug. Eli will throw it and then kind of shrug his shoulder.’’
We picked a guy not because of what he does on the field. But he because he looks like Eli, was coached by Eli's coach, and is mature. And I really think that if he was not coached by Cutcliffe, Haskins would have been the picked.
And where in the heck is JTGIants?
He's got great touch on his passes.
He's the most mobile Giants QB you've ever seen.
He doesn't turn the ball over.
He's got great size for the pro position.
He won't embarrass the organization.
Most of all. he's going to represent your NYG for the next decade. His road ahead looks like it will be as tough as Eli's. Another underdog you can root for and watch prove people wrong.
Gil and Cosell and Sy and I like Jones ... at least the giants weren’t blinded by Haskins pretty stats.
Josh watched Darnold be pedestrian last year and Barkley do very well and still posted constantly about firing Gettleman and how it was a terrible pick.
I also wanted the giants to draft Darnold last year (and actually wanted them to draft Lamar Jackson before he started flaking off with his mom as his agent).
I have reservations about Jones. But I'm more sure that Josh is a shitty poster than Jones is a poor QB.

You are wrong.
Sorry, but it's a near impossible sell because the value at #6 just wasn't there.
In fact, there were better players at every other single position of importance on the board who were considerably better than Jones.
This was the essence of poor draft management.
So he's a hard-worker and a great teammate. Davis Webb said he was going to work harder than anyone's ever worked. It didn't end up mattering because he wasn't any good. He sucked. You have to actually be good at football to be good at it. It doesn't matter who your mentor was or how "rah rah" of a teammate you are.
A lot of people knocked Haskins for having such great talent around him and that being the reason his stats were so good. I still say you can't just put any QB in any system and watch him throw 50 TDs, otherwise guys would be doing it every freakin' year (they're not, those 50 TDs broke Drew Brees' Big 10 record). Not to mention the Ohio St. offense really wasn't tailored to Haskins's strengths as a QB. How confident are we Jones would have thrown 50 TDs if he played at Ohio St.?
Kid is going to be very good.
Ignore the naysayers who speak with such conviction about a player well thought of inside NFL circles.
