Last year he repeatedly stressed that you can’t force a QB pick or talk yourself into a QB. A year later he takes Jones at 6 with some really good prospects available. Do you think this is a Gettleman pick of were there other influences at play?
I find it mind blowing that he was their highest rated player currently on the board, but maybe that was the case. Personally, I hate the pick, but for better or worse he is the future so I hope to hell he's as good as they think.

When the best thing you hear about is that he can handle NY, it's unbelievable. That sounds like a homer Giants trying to explain why Eli is better than Big Ben. What a bunch of garbage.
and you're kidding yourself if you think ownership had nothing to do with this pick. I'm positive DG signed off on it but all these old school, "do it the Giants way" guys in the front office/ownership are the reason they took Jones.
Some GM comes out and says they were going to select Jones before we would pick at number 17.
There’s been a lot of talk about people actually in the nfl liking Jones a lot more than the mock drafts would suggest
People are just blinded by the Duke BS - he’s a better prospect than Haskins
Thanks for responding to my post. Going into today, I was okay with Jones.....at 17. I really didn’t think we would take him at 6 because that has to be considered a reach. So, if I can get conclusive evidence he would have been gone by 17 I would feel better about picking him at 6. But based on everything I have read of him, it doesn’t seem like anyone was projecting him to go higher than 17.
So, I hope tomorrow the Cincinnati or Miami or Denver GM come out and say they wanted Jones and were disappointed when they saw the Giants take him at 6.
I doubt I will see that though. I think we reached. We could have had Josh Allen, a guy we desperately need, at 6, and Jones at 17. I would prefer Jones and Allen over Jones and Lawrence.
At this point, we just need to ignore anything Gettleman Â
Cincy, Miami, and Denver all talked about how badly they wanted Jones?
Those are two teams that have been botching their QB situation for years, and another team that's had this misfortune of picking a guy who was good enough but nothing near great.

Do you really want him to tell the truth? The only truth is every Sunday on the scoreboard
