In 20+ years on this site, I've never been an asshat.
But something weird happened tonight. Someone I am close to knew things at draft time (I don't want to share my source, but I shared it with Eric).
He told me several things that were spot on:
The Giants decided on Jones over a week ago. He texted me this at the start of the draft. He told me Jones was the pick for sure 10 minutes before it was announced.
The Giants were going to trade up to #8 to take Allen, but he went at #7, so the trade didn't happen. After that, the Giants were ready to sit tight at #17.
He told me Dexter Lawrence was the pick 10 minutes before it was announced.
This info isn't much use to us now. But I think almost trading up for Allen was really interesting. If we loved Allen, why not take him and trade up for Jones? I guess when you have conviction about the QB you want, you don't mess around.
Hitdog also said QB was not out of the picture.
You take Allen at 6 and move up for Jones at 8.
It literally makes no rational sense to any reasonable human being. The only rationalization would be that the Giants thought the Jags were more likely to take Daniel Jones than Josh Allen. I don't see how they could be that stupid though.
The fear seems to have been someone was going to trade up.
Best player available, plain and simple
Jones DOES seem like a Coughlin type.
I was told this morning there was a sense their might be urgency pick a QB at 6. But, there was no name attached so I discounted it. I was wrong.

Thus the pick..
The Jags know how to draft. Allen can play 4-3 OLB the way Anthony Barr does, and the way Mack did initially.
They obviously don't like him.
Who the fuck cares? I mean, they were smart in taking the guy at 6 and not waiting to 17. But Jones is NOT THE GUY. HOW IN THE HELL DID THEY LIKE HIM OVER HASKINS. I want to know. Because, you know what, I really wonder if DSG is of sound mind. And I'm not kidding. This is some straight up shit.

This is why you don't want.
If he's the guy you want, you have to take him.
People keep assuming he'd have been there @ 17 like it was a stone cold lock. I don't buy it.
Derp.

#17, Papa et al talked about it. She's probably correct.
That's what she said as well.

I also said this before. I believe Denver would have taken Jones with the 10th pick of the first round.

why wouldn't they pursue Rosen?
They obviously don't like him.
When did Josh Rosen become Brett Favre? Jesus I am so sick of seeing this name. The team that drafted him in the first round LAST YEAR wants to unload him and still has not been able to.

Desparation pick.
100%. You call Detroit while in the clock at 6, secure the 8th pick and draft Allen. Hold your breath for 10 minutes and then go draft Jones. Scratch my freaking head.
Absolutely. Gettleman is so full of shit.
