Gettleman said they drafted “franchise QB” in Daniel Jones. But says Eli could play beyond 2019. “We may be the Green Bay model where Rodgers sat for three years.” That would be three years of Jones’s five-year rookie contract.
This one kinda makes me mad. If this was the case, why not get Josh Allen and get a QB in a draft in the next two years. Especially with his comment that they had the same grade for Allen and Jones.
I know you can’t rely on getting the guy in the next draft but if they’re planning on playing Eli for more than one more season I don’t see why not go defense there.
They simply were not going to attach a timetable.
Shurmur also said Eli will have to fight Jones for the job.

I actually didn't hear until after I posted the above and I still would have posted what I posted above. How should have have answered the question? Eli is out after this year? Nothing wrong with what he said. No decision needs to be made on Eli at this point. Giants already decided he is the QB this year while they are competitive. If season goes down the shit hole as many on BBI think then Jones gets his opportunity. If they do well, then Giants need to address the situation.
This is a ridiculous take.
