From my HR/Recruitment experience, this is a textbook example of hiring someone who has the bloodline or affiliation advantage. Skills tend to be secondary as the hiring manager swears by the new hires ability to assimilate into the culture or their exceptional potential or gravitas. A clear sign of these cases are when people reference the new hires recommendations or their relations before talking about their actual skill or sincere earned accomplishments.
These "legacy" hires tend to be adequate or maybe good, but rarely special or extraordinary.
Someone is going to reference Eli. Please don't! There are a lot of things that affected Eli's success (both negatively and positively).
Good Luck Fellow Giants Fans and Buckle In! This may be a rocky ride.

If you’re a Giants fan who enjoys the team’s standard operating procedure—similar to a small-town hardware business or nebulous sector of town government where employees are often culled from their connection with, relation to or familiarity of certain individuals—then you likely think the pick of Daniel Jones at No. 6 in the 2019 NFL draft is probably fine.
Great name for a TV show that features Connor Orr.
