I will wait until next week to discuss the analysis of the 2019 draft class.
With NYG off the board until #96 overall, there will be 62 more players will be off the board. That is a ton of players to see crossed off the board and near-impossible to predict who will be there. So I will go through the positions I think are in play and some of the names that NYG will be hopeful for.
I think the top positions NYG will be looking at will be OLB, WR, ILB, and OT. No matter the case, you aren't really looking for a starter at that point. You are looking for depth, a guy you want to develop in to a starter within 1-2 years, and a guy that can impact the game in situations and/or special teams.
At OLB, I think the cupboard will be bare especially if the focus is a pure pass rusher. Ben Banogu or [b[Jachai Polite[/b] would be a godsend but I can't see them being there. I also don't expect Chase Winovich to be there but the wrist injury uncertainty could bump him down a tad in to trade-up territory, which I do think is still an option when the 3rd round begins. If NYG can fit a 4-3 DE type player in to the scheme, Jaylon Ferguson, Austin Bryant, Maxx Crosby are all options. The realistic 3-4 OLB names that I think will be there and will peak NYG interest are Alabama's Christian Miller and Georgia's Deandre Walker.
At WR, I think NYG will be targeting size and/or speed at some point. The run on WRs is coming, so you will see a bunch of names disappear tonight. The names that I think will definitely be off the board are AJ Brown, DK Metcalf, JJ Arcega Whiteside, Paris Campbell, Deebo Samuel, Riley Ridley, Hakeem Butler, Gary Jennings. I think NYG could be looking at Jamal Custis, David Sills if they want more size and ball skills, while a name like Darius Clayton is the kind of deep threat that could add the needed downfield dimension to the arsenal. Also keep an eye on Buffalo's Anthony Johnson.
The ILB spot, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the team want to go int o battle with Ogletree and Goodson. But if they want more athletic ability in coverage and on 3rd down, a spot they have been getting killed at for years, I think Drue Tranquill will be there and don't count out the small guy Benn Burr-Kirven, they could use a guy that is all over the place and this 3-4 DL they have is going to keep linebackers clean. A guy like that could rack up 10 tackles a week. Another name to keep an eye on, Blake Cashman from Minnesota. Many in the league like him.
Lastly, even though it sounds like Remmers will be brought in with Wheeler being the backup/swing guy, I think NYG will have OT on their mind. Safety net for Solder if he has another poor season and Remmers/Wheeler is a gamble. NYG needs to be strong on the outside. Assuming the won't be looking for a 2019 contribution from this OT, a couple of guys that are interesting to me in that they have starter upside but need a year to build up their bodies are USC's Chuma Edge and Northern Illinois' Max Scharping. Can't be sold either will be there though. I think NYG will like Elon's Eli Udoh and South Carolina's Dennis Daley. And what about OC? Elgton Jenkins and Erik McCoy won't be there but keep an eye on Alabama's Ross Pierschbacher
Could they end up taking a TE value that drops? Safety? Sure. Do I think there is a chance they trade up from 96 in to the 70-75 area? Yes. But remember, the holes on this roster all plentiful and the best way to fill them is with picks.
FWIW, the New York Football Giants cannot Draft a player named Eli Udoh. Just cannot do it.
I think he is going round 2. Certainly a nice piece though that would thrive here.
Sy..... David Sills - is he an option?
Sy..... David Sills - is he an option?
I think he is, yes. I like him more than most...I've been told he is round 4/5 by the league. If he is there at 96, he will be an option for me
All players that I believe you SY are not very high on...
But I like them.
move up and get a starter quality RT ??
To me I am kind of shocked they did not .
I am fine with what we have done so far in as much as
I wanted Josh Allen they had conviction on Jones .
Centers and guard to play center projects.
They must think Carter and Golden are our guys. Hopefully they are. But, still think we need more help outside.
I like Lawrence though, he will help stop the run.

Sills at 108.
Jones, Lawrence, Baker, Ferguson/Winovich, Sills would be a really solid add to the core group of this roster.
I sure hope I am wrong about this but it looks more like a set up for a number 1 or 2 draft pick in 2020.

Baker to many was the top CB or at least top 2 in the class. Lawrence I keep hearing Haloti Ngata comps. Yes I am not a fan of Jones, but outside of OG and RB we have needs at every position that would justify a 1st Round pick.
I'm not sure I like the idea of trading Engram. The kid has enormous upside and he has flashed several times
What are your thoughts on Tomlinson as trade bait?
Agreed. We have very few offensive weapons, Engram shouldn't go anywhere.
Lauletta is worth nothing.
I am not SY but I say NO. He had an issue last season, played only briefly and was a 4th pick last year. I don't think we could even get a conditional pick in next years draft for him.
I do not think he'll be there at 95 though, so it would take a move up

Would he fetch anything in a trade?

Sucks but I think you're right..without trading a player, it seems very unlikely the Giants move back into the 2nd or early 3rd. When you start dealing next years picks, the value decreases and I find it hard to get excited
In a draft their own GM said is loaded in rounds 2 & 3 this is what they do and now have zero picks until #96.
The Mara's have been left behind. The NFL has passed them by and hiring a 67 year old who has also been passed by to be their tough guy front man is just sad now.
Dieter played C, RG and RT at UW. The last one was need when Ramczyk left early. He's best inside, but he is almost certainly better at RT than what we have now
Thoughts?
Nobody gets everything they want. There are only so many picks.
You get some things, you don't get others. That's the draft. It's life, too, when you think about it.

According to @bburkeESPN's valuations of draft slots -- based on AV over replacement -- the Giants gave up a package that was worth 74% more than the No. 30 pick they received. A pricey trade up.

You sound like a baby. Root for a new team if the Mara's trigger you so much. You use one source to say the Giants overpaid, but we both know you read the other posts saying it was fair value, some saying we underpaid.
I agree I wouldn't trade Engram. Janoris Jenkins would be the movable piece. I think a team would only want to give up a 3rd for him at most, but perhaps if we included a pick in this draft or next we could get back into the 2nd round.
I really hope so.
Sy - do you think that with so much CB talent remaining on the board, that they could double-dip at the position?
Or the FS/LB tweener.
But seriously. The league is scratching it's collective head right now.
