Is still on the board. I really wouldn't have drafted either of those guys. There are things I like about both of them. Lock was off my board after I just really lost faith in his personality to lead a football team, though.
Next year, there are going to be QBs that transform the fortunes of franchises for the next two decades.
when discussing Rosen... If you have a conviction that a guy will be your franchise QB, you don't screw around and take him. That's the #1 reason I didn't think we'd go QB at 17, and it would only be at 6. Despite the media noise, Gettleman must have been convinced that Jones will be that franchise guy. Now it's time to see if he's right.
And the idea of comparing Jones' career to Allen is stupid. It's all about Jones... If he ends up being that franchise QB, I don't care if Jones averages 15 sacks a year, I'll take that franchise QB every day of the week.
I agree that it was a huge mistake passing on Allen...
have to like Josh Allen and Jones better than Jones and Lawrence. I think that is what we have to wait to find out. Certainly Josh Allen and Dexter Lawrence would have helped enormously for this year

And I trust Gettleman's take over anyone on a Giants Message board.
Gettleman delivered us Barkley, Hernandez, Carter and Hill last year. And all of a sudden we want to question his drafting skills.

While I mostly agree, Carter?? I wouldn't go bragging about that one yet. The others, absolutely.

Here we go, day after. Well, Gettleman is the GM. He must know what hes doing.
Guys, GMs get shit wrong. Just because hes a GM doesnt mean he got it right. So stop it with that nonsense. Its just a failsafe to make people here feel better after the brutality that occurred last night.
Look, Im not saying it cant turn out well. But oh boy was this not good.
Makes you question whether this organization knows how to properly evaluate QBs. Last year we pass on 4 top 10 QBs. We pass on Rosen again this year. Now we pick Jones, pass on Haskins, and a guy we rated highly fell straight out of the first round. 👍

and well be watching other teams take them ... I like Daniel Jones, but the idea that Josh Allen and Dexter Lawrence couldve been a reality is something I just havent been able to shake yet
Allen and Lawrence was a dream scenario, completely overhauls the defense from garbage to respectability (and on the way to being dominant).
Instead we have no pass rush, and no chance at the 2020 class. Thats the part that infuriated me. Whatever, no point in caring too much about this BS. This franchise is so pathetically predictable, not sure why I was shocked at Jones - its been too obvious for too long.
When he won the Senior Bowl MVP, it was all done.

Nobody is saying that he got it right. The point is that he obviously had the conviction that Jones is a franchise QB and his draft resume has been pretty good. There is enough evidence there to stay away from the ledge, but you can react however you'd like.
The funny thing is BBI would have been happy with a DT at #6

Sometimes GMs get things wrong because sometimes even hitting an 11 against a dealer showing 6 loses. The future is uncertain. But the idea that you on your couch know for sure TODAY that hes wrong... thats just silly.
Given the opera bouffe that the FO and owner's box has been
posters have every right to question what they do.
One of the truly bizarre developments over the past couple is years is how our respective points of view have largely converged. Quite honestly, it's frightening me :)

Later
It does show how much they value mobility, which is why Haskins wasn't the pick.
Just passing along what was said on TV this morning. Feel free not to click.

Sounds like there was more than just mobility that they didn't like on Haskins.
Yes, I agree. It was one of the factors.

But you being 1st in line of the "Eli is done draft a QB obsessives" on here makes it a bit ironic you would start this thread...

Because I think Eli is done and wanted to draft a QB means I have to like the pick?
I said multiple times I would have been fine with Haskins or Lock. But sure.
