Gettleman was trying to trade up to 8 after taking Jones?

For Allen? Is this correct, or just hearsay?

The question begs to be asked, if he was willing to do that, why didn't he just take Allen at 6, then try and trade up for Jones at 8? I hope the argument isn't he liked Jones better. Coughlin scooped Allen up with the next pick, and am sure he had a good laugh in the process at his good fortune. I think there was a far better chance of Jones slipping past the Jaguars.
If he couldn't trade back up to 8
Does it matter who he was trying for?

He got his QB... What if he took Allen and couldn't get back to get Jones and he's gone at 10 or 11 or 15 etc...
Asshat have confirmed it but who really knows
My feeling seeing DG and PS...they know they screwed up.

Maybe he could get to 8, but didn’t pull trigger when Allen was gone
Rico posted he got several texts saying it

Passing on Allen was a mistake. DG trying to trade up and get him but missing out cements it
The rumor was
The Giants was set to.move back into the 8th spot to get Josh Allen.

They know they could have had both....if they chose Allen first
and that would have cost

17 and 37 and probably more. So was Allen worth getting in this scenario over Lawrence and Baker?
My feeling is that they liked both equally

And knew that they were close on a deal to move up to 8 so it became a choice of who would they be most disappointed if they lost because something fell through and that player was Jones.

Not necessarily. Allen is more of a 3-4 OLB and Jacksonville runs a 4-3 scheme. Not to mention if the Giants pass on Jones perhaps a team like Cincy or Washington trump their deal in place for 8 and both Haskins and Jones go before #17.

Okay, so hypothetically we take Allen at 6 and Cincinnati or Washington offer a better deal to get to 8 and both Haskins and Jones are gone by 17, how do you address the QB situation?

Shhhhhhh! You'll spoil the righteous indignation! We didn't watch hours of youtube videos and Path to the Draft to be told to be logical!

I think that happened. Too bad we got a very good NT after trading one, and maybe the best CB, and a QB too.

You wait a fucking year for a class with multiple prospects said already to he better than any of these guys. Or you traded for Rosen, who DG said was a fallback option, who also is better than any of these guys.

No guarantee we will be in a position to draft one of the 1st Round QB’s in 2020. Not to mention sh*t happens and at this time next year we are complaining about the weak QB class of 2020.
YouTube....how original

No, I've watched several Duke games over the past few years since they're an ACC Coastal team like UVA and saw him play like complete dogshit in person in Charlottesville in 2017.
I heard they were trying to trade back up for Wilkins

See - I am an asshat now
The weak class of 2020??
Greg from LI : 8:33 am : link
The hell? Jones would have been at best maybe the 5th best QB in that draft.
