These QB’s will be linked together. Division rivals. This will be fun to watch play out & certainly adds a lot to the Giants/Redskins rivalry.
One thing I do find exciting about Jones - the Giants clearly love this kid and have a strong conviction on him. If he was drafted at 17, I guarantee you people will say, “why didn’t you take him at 6 if you like him so much?” Well, they clearly like him. Going to be fun watching it play out.
Jones will be playing next year if the Giants aren’t winning. Shurmur’s quote about Eli playing to ensure Jones doesn’t play is very telling.
Will they both be good?
Will they both suck?
Will one clearly be better than the other.
I wonder who the skins next coach will be? Because I'm 100% certain that Gruden didn't want Haskins.
Good point. Haskins probably has a higher ceiling. I could see him being really good. But, I could also seem him busting. So much talent at OSU. I can see Jones being a game manager type and hopefully much better. I think floor is higher.
Since we passed on better QB talent last year, that still carries over.
To me, both the Giants and the Skins reached for these guys. It’s just that we reached much, much more.

better qbs last year iyo. You’re a fan(?), you are entitled to an opinion, but you know shit compared to the guys who do this for a living. Really, you know shit. Doesn’t mean we didn’t fuck up, only time can tell, but seriously, you’re a very bright guy who knows shit compared to the pros. But, carry on.
My gut feeling is that at least the Bengals wanted Jones, possibly the broncos as well. Once jones was gone, they wanted nothing to do with Haskins.
I wanted nothing to do with Haskins, guy screams Jamarcus Russell product of his team. No thanks.
Jones on every long pass had to have room in the pocket to pat the ball and take a few steps forward to release. Long windup to release. Really hope he turns out great though.

Jones won’t start till 2020. We won’t be able to evaluate him until he has at least 3 years as a starter (maybe 2 if he is either a stud or a complete flop). Which means we may be in Qb hell for years.

Not sure jones will see the field at all next yr..say giants are 2-8, the mantra will be same as with lauletta, webb, etc..."he's not ready to play yet"..or "we are trying to win games and Eli gives us the best chance"

Neither Webb nor Lauletta were taken 6th overall. Completely different prospects, completely different expectations.
If we're 2-8, the "trying to win games" stuff won't fly either.
I can almost guarantee you if we're 2-8, Daniel Jones is going to be under center.
Kyle Crabbs of The Draft Network identified the Virginia game as Jones's worst film. I've watched that game 3 times since it became clear in February that Jones was in play. I'd advise everyone to watch that (linked below). You'll see a guy with great mechanics that are consistent throughout the game - pass #1 looks like pass #40. He's accurate and clean in the short and intermediate areas. And I'd add that he followed this game with what Crabbs called his best film, at Pitt.
I'm confident we got the right QB in this draft, and we got him at the right spot. The QB transition is being bungled by the front office, but that's got nothing to do with what Jones is.

Hopefully by 2021 he’s shut enough people up

Good stuff GT. Jones looks pretty solid. Fundamentally sound. Polished. Kinda like Eli coming out. This may be a much better pick than the masses think.
Exactly. If I had a stud like Dalton I wouldn't be thinking QB in the draft.

Whenever I watch videos of Jones like this, I feel so bad for him, so many drops that make you go, “How did you drop that!?” and looks like he’s going up against the 2000 Ravens or in the 49’er NFCCG every single play. That Duke team was terrible. But I see a lot of things I like about him each one I see.
He does not move well, I think thats why the Giants had Jones rated higher
