I will preface by saying the 17th pick will always be tied to Beckham and who we took at that spot.
Looking at it further, prior to trade, we did not have a third round pick. Had we not made the Beckham trade, do you really think DG would have made the same move to trade a second, one of 4's and one of the 5's knowing he didn't have a third rounder?
That would have meant we would have gone two full rounds without a pick. What I am trying to get at is having that third made the trade back into the first much easier.
Just something else to think about and if DG finds a way to package 95 to move up further in the third, the Beckham trade has even more influence from a draft standpoint.
That's not the point though, if they didn't have the third round pick, would DG still have moved back up into the first.
