In my 50's, I've watched every Giants game for the past 45 years, thousands more games, tens of thousands of hours of football. I watched film & analysis of the top 10 rated QB's. The ONLY one I could not handle drafting, with any pick through round 4, is Daniel Jones.
I can't imagine a worse use on #6 at a key position than this.
Jones will never be a successful starter in the NFL. I hope Eli is extended until he can't play & we draft a new QB in ~4-5 years.
But the pom-pom wavers will immediately try to shut down ANY criticism of the pick by implying that it is simply illegitimate to feel anything about this pick other than enthusiastic approval, and acting as if Daniel Jones is universally beloved by all scouts.
Sy had Michael Thomas as a 73 and not even a top 5 WR when he came out. Look at some reviews of Ridgers, or Marino, or Brady when they came out. ALl flat out wrong. 100 percent wrong. So this is not to criticize either DaveTe or Sy particularly, but scouts get things wrong. When I see Jones, I see toughness, athleticism, an ability to go through progrssions, and an ability to make chicken salad out of chiken sh&t. My only question is the average arm strength. The reality is we will see.
When the best thing anyone can say about him is "the draft is a crapshoot," or "drafting is more art than science, so lets wait and see", you arent doing it right.

Criticism is fine. I didn't like the pick either. I would have much preferred Josh Allen, or even Drew Lock.
But at some point you have to accept the possibility that you don't have all the information. That maybe there was more interest from other teams than has been reported and that maybe those teams know more than you do.
If you want to criticize the pick, thats fine. But taking every opportunity to bash everything on every thread is overkill. You don't need to beat everyone over the head with your opinion.

I disagree that's the best anyone can say. See my post above. I see a lot of plusses. Apparently, according to Sy, so did a lot of other NFL personnel people
Crapshoot - who knows if Jones or Haskins or Lock will be best Â

Conversely the "doom and gloom" "Giants can't do anything righters" (I'm looking in your general direction) will shit on this pick for the next 50 years... so they cancel each other out.
The arrogance that many of the fan base have that they know enough to pick better than people that work day in and day out in the NFL, and feel that their opinion is gold is absurd. The pick was a head scratcher there in some ways, but clearly they have him rated highly and it was pretty clear there was at least 3 other teams that might take him before 17. People need to grow a pair and should root for the picks until they leave or PROVE AFTER TIME that they don't deserve it.
Who has concluded that this was a good pick or bad pick isn't thinking clearly. I wanted Allen, but this is all TBD. It's fine to express opinions, but to act like anyone knows how this will turn out is foolish.
I personally am excited, because we getting ready to start a new era at qb (although I love Eli and will miss him). We added some brand new players. Where the disconnect comes in is this I believe, how do you think in regards to the new players? Are you excited about their potential, or are you afraid they will bust? Personally, and I feel this is the best way for me, I am excited about the potential.

Yes, because you are the most optimistic poster we have.
Fun fact Greg, the fact that Dave's opinion is informed doesn't change the fact that most opinions on here are uninformed.
Time will as always determine if Jones was the right kid. Nobody knows.

Get over it. Time will tell. We picked our QB. If we picked Haskins all the same issues/questions would persist.

Great perspective
