I remember reading a tweet that said the Giants were one of a few teams whose defense was not dependent on having a dominant EDGE rush. Does that explain completely ignoring the EDGE? Seems like they are going for guys who can play man on the outside and hoping to generate pressure via the blitz. A guy like Lawrence will occupy blockers and clear lanes for blitzing LB’s
Also, I think David Long from WVU would be a great get in the 4th/5th for this type of scheme. Best blitzing ILB in the Draft.
I don't think the Giants are purposely ignoring Edge, they had a lot of needs on the team.
I thought Allen would’ve been the dream in this scheme .. as he can be utilized in coverage as well as rushing the passer. I know they love Carter, but pairing him with Allen would’ve been fun while Lawrence/Hill push the pocket right back into the QBs face
Am I correct that they are usually shaded to the strong side, so that the 1 and the 5 are on the outside shoulder of the C and the OT on the strong side and only the 3 (probably Tomlinson) is on the weak side?
