Giants traded 2020 #1 pick for a scrub tonight and don't even get to pick first and lie to the world that they don't know who they are going to take.....
Crazy things happen that let the worst of teams have really good records, so ceiling is not a good yardstick. 7-9 with this schedule is realistic/optimistic.
if we end up sucking, we could get an absolute haul from a team that wants a QB in the 2020 draft. But by that time, everyone might be fired anyway
This is actually a great supposition. I had been thinking it's a 2 year process where we build the best team, mainly by getting great defensive talent, and plug a great QB in next year. Assuming that DG and PS et al know what they've been trained to do and Jones is okay (although I have no illusions that he will be better than Fromm et al) maybe we can do the reverse and get great defenders next year. I don't know what the 2020 non-QB class is like, but one advantage to having multiple picks is that all those juicy QB's are going to push a bunch of really good players down.
We have no one to rush the passer and one veteran CB, but that's ok because we don't have any proven run stoppers or LBs that can cover either.
On offense, we've got Saquon, Sterling Shepard, Sterling Shepard's older twin on his fourth team, a TE that blocks like a WR and QB teetering on the edge of a cliff.
The schedule isnt all that difficult.
The real question is if Jones starts in 2020 and he’s god awful and we go 2-14 or 3-13 and earn the #1 pick, do we go Trevor Lawrence in 2021?

Not unless he cuts that hair! Can’t have hair like that and be a Giants QB!
We're going to be bad. Really bad.
DG let go mid season.
