next years 2 for a high 3 this year plus a 4? I feel with the cap $ we have next year, we can buy a player who might be equivalent to a 2nd round pick we trade.
RE: Would have helped if we didn't trade away a 4 and a 5.... Â
to move up 7 spots to take a CB when a bunch of closely rated CB's were still available.
We don't have a RT. Kind of an important position if you want to be able to run or throw the ball.
Baker is a stud, and they still have another 4 and 2 5s. If you see a guy you love, you go get him. Baker is legit, and an ideal fit in press man for Bettcher's scheme.
I'm willing to sacrifice the false hope of 4/5th rounders for a top CB prospect they'll now have for 5 years.
Unless they trade a player, I don't think the have the ammo.
More likely to trade up in rounds 3 or 4.
I really wish we'd stop trading up. We only move in one direction. Up, but not down. Gentleman has never traded down. Neither did Reese. The last time we traded down was when we took Kiwi. And that was Accorsi. That must be a record.
This team has zero depth. We have no pass rusher that scares anyone. I like Baker, but would not have made that trade. We could have easily taken a CB at #37, even if Baker was gone.
What happened to trading down to get more picks in the second and third round? Now I'm concerned Gettleman will trade Engram just to get back into the second round.

yes, i would sacrifice 2020 draft capital. they arent going QB in 2020 and there is an absurd amount of talent left on the OL, at WR, and some EDGE players that can help day 1.
There is legit 1st round talent sitting there available, and I am hoping they do what it takes to land some more. (anything but 2020 1st should be on the table)

yes, they couldve taken "a CB". They chose to move up, for a good price, to secure an elite cover man with the skillset that fits into Bettcher's scheme like a glove. When you dominate in the SEC, I'm very confident in it translating here. 0 TDs in 2 years, ballhawk, physical/press man CB with good size. Excellent pick.
They lost a 4 and 5 in the process, well worth the cost of securing the top CB on your board.

BUt, if the Giants had him as a 1st RD talent why just take any CB? What if JJ is going to be shipped out for picks, makes sense we get our Highest rated CB to make that trade much easier..
He is the most unappreciated talent on this roster by some. a true mismatch/"freak of nature" that I would make the centerpiece of my passing game, not traded away because his in-line blocking is lackluster.
Engram thrived in games without Odell and should be featured, not traded. His per game production without Odell (2017-18) would translate to 1000+ yards. He's a stud, not a liability.

I would not have the trade, but the broader issue is not that they did so in this instance, but why there is such institutional opposition to ever trading down. DG tried to trade up this year for Allen, and last year for Carter. I don't want to trade down just for the sake of doing so, and in fact was opposed to trading down from #6 because it was a top 10 pick. But it's fair to ask why the Giants haven't done so since the Kiwi trade.
crack me up. We still have a bunch of picks. There was no way DG was going to use all 12 picks and how many times have a player drafted in the 4th or 5th made a difference?
For every Tom Brady (1) or David Diehl there are hundreds of players that are in and out of the league in less than 3 years.
I would try to trade up into the 3rd round, but not give up #95 for it if possible. If can't do, try to strike gold at #95 and #108. Edge and OT. Do not trade EE.
More likely to trade up in rounds 3 or 4.

Maybe Jenkins gets moved.

Never happened in my lifetime.
One out of three isn't great but it isn't terrible either.
