Did the Giants ever really have a chance to get Rosen ?

Ron from Ninerland : 4/26/2019 11:45 am
When all is said and done, Rosen is still a Cardinal. Were the Cards really trying to deal him or were they just jerking everybody around ? The two teams that needed a QB now have a QB which makes Rosen even harder to deal. It makes me think they never really wanted to deal him.

I believe the opposite.

No one was willing to give the Cards what they thought he’s worth. That may change, but I kinda doubt it
Cardinals

Are dumb, they should have traded him between pick 1 and 5 to the higest bidder
IMO Rosen was a backup solution
morrison40 : 4/26/2019 11:54 am : link
If they didn’t get the guy they wanted, Jones...not Haskins, not Lock, not a lower round project .
We should find out tonight

Don’t think anyone did

Sounds like Arizona was asking too much which is why nobody got Rosen!

Do we really have the right to call other teams dumb though?

think somebody said they wanted a mid first round pick, which was never going to happen.
I've got to think AZ wanted a 1st rounder,
Section331 : 4/26/2019 12:08 pm : link
and no one would bite. I'd be surprised if they went into camp with both QB's still on the roster.

really need to let it go now
The problem AZ
cjd2404 : 4/26/2019 12:17 pm : link
has now, besides the obvious they didn't get anything this year is that now those QB needy teams might just be banking on next year's QB class and how much those guys might rate against Rosen.

AZ's options are going to get worse and worse until next year, where they *might* get something after the top QBs are off the board.
If DG and Shurmur didn’t want Rosen
5BowlsSoon : 4/26/2019 12:19 pm : link
That is good enough for me.

I really don’t care what the 95% here think who know about as much as I do when it comes to evaluating players....not much.

I would rather put my trust in our GM, our coach, and our scouts instead.

Welcome about Mr Jones!

All it takes is one starting QB to get injured and Rosen could become an intriguing option for someone.
I think they CLEARLY could have gotten him for the 6
David B. : 4/26/2019 12:22 pm : link
or probably for the 17. They didn't want to do it.

I think THEY think Jone's Eli-like demeanor will be better suited to NY and the media more than Rosen's outspoken personality.
Cards completed F-up the Rosen situation
ZogZerg : 4/26/2019 12:26 pm : link
They should have had a trade lined up weeks before the draft.
Instead they were playing games.
If they don't deal him today they are even bigger dopes!
Based on DG's comment
Beer Man : 4/26/2019 12:34 pm : link
in last night press conference, I believe Rosen was the backup plan. DG's comment was something like "it depended on certain things happening, and those things didn't happen".
PS summed it up as well when he said
Beer Man : 4/26/2019 12:36 pm : link
"in today's NFL you need an athletic QB who can move the pocket and extend plays". Rosen is more of a traditional pocket passer, like Eli.
.....
Micko : 4/26/2019 12:54 pm : link
Maybe already said but I think we have to assume that the Gmen liked Jones ALOT more than Rosen.
I'm not buying it.
Ron from Ninerland : 4/26/2019 1:58 pm : link
I'm basing that more by what the Skins did than what the Giants did. The Skins were desperate to get an NFL ready QB. They don't have the luxury of sitting a draft pick behind Eli for a year. If Rosen could have been had, the Skins would have had him assuming the Giants didn't want him

Jones has a lot of positives, but he's still a crapshoot. Rosen is an NFL tested QB with a huge upside. Still a crapshoot, but much less of one. I know DG and CS are saying Jones was their guy all along, but what do you expect them to say ? If they could have traded #17 for Rosen but chose to draft Jones with #6 they're fools. But I don't think they ever had the opportunity. Either the Cards stupidly overplayed their hand or for some incomprehensible reason they want to keep him

And they'd be the sole bidder. And they'd be bidding on a guy who hasn't played in "insert time since last start".
Arizona can still get equity back
UConn4523 : 4/26/2019 2:11 pm : link
but its anyone's guess at this point. I'm confident the 1st round pick ship has sailed (would be next years, obviously) but it will be interesting to see if there's any movement by the middle of the 2nd round. If not, it may get ugly.

It's a moot point now, but I did predict yesterday that they'd get at least a 2nd round pick even after picking Murray, and they did.
I have some advice for Bidwell and Keim
