Will the Giants keep three? Is there any reason to?
While we know that barring anything exceptional, Eli is the QB Week one.
However, the whole situation now is completely different than the past two years. They picked a QB early, and with conviction. Most don't agree with the pick while some are warming up to it.
Point is, we're no longer in the grey area. The Giants saved face with how they have handled the ELI situation of late but how they handle this in training camp will speak volumes.
Are they going to continue to fuck around with a 3rd string QB competition where- you know whoms- will be getting the majority of the second half snaps?
Will they continue to coddle Eli if down 30-10 in say week three early in the third Q, only to have to camera zoom over to Daniel Jones?
This should NOT be a situation about holding onto Eli long enough as the starter until " M- eliminated" while pushing for the sixth spot in the playoffs.
They ( Mara/Gettleman/Shurmur made the bold decision to draft this guy early and unless they're all collectively incompetent, he needs to see this field ASAP.
Other teams do it annually. Rosen and Allen got their asses kicked last year, Goff looked lost year one and our own Eli in 2004 was christened during WEEK 1 in Philly with a helmet to helmet with him starting a month and a half later.
Please stop with this BS communication of sitting for a year or two behind Eli to the fans.
Playing time for this kid should be the biggest priority.
Welcome to NY Mr. Jones.
Eli may be gone next year. Extending him now makes no sense unless Jones really needs two years (which I doubt).
Just looked it up and it wasn't guaranteed. Move along.
That said. We need to see a lot of Jones this preseason. Have Lauletta play most of game 1 and Jones really needs to play all of game 4.
I'd be shocked if they dumped Lauletta.
