We’re all fans and will root like hell, but it’s a tough day for optimism at the most important position in the sport. For most, at least Link - ( New Window )
Do yourself a favor... look back at the top 10 of the last 3 years drafts and see the number of 'can't miss' guys on the DL or Edge who are complete busts...
I'm just saying, there is no way to know if Allen is the next Osi Umenyiora or the next Owa Odighizuwa...
There is probably an equal chance Jones is a star as much as Allen.

true ... i do actually like jones a lot. just felt allen was a gift and his skillset would've thrived in bettcher's scheme
Half the night watching tape on Daniel Jones.. I must say he is a very athletic, very accurate and I was left impressed. Daniel Jeremiah made a great point on Jones last night. He said Jones played with no draftable players and excelled compared to Murray where half the team is NFL talent.
I'm excited... If he is a franchise QB, him over Allen was a no brainer...

How did Jones excel in comparison to Murray? Murray's stats were 1000X better than Jones.

No props needed. No asshat here, or scout like qualities. Just simply reading the tea leaves. Everything pointed to Jones. The demeanor, the toughness, the slight mobility Shurmur mentioned. The cool head to handle the media like DG mentioned. The tipping point for me was when they committed to Ei this year, without hesitation. That told me they truly care about perception around Eli and doing right by him. Rosen, Kyler and Haskins would create an uproar from everyone outside the organization and put pressure on the team to see what the young kid has. The friendship that Ei and Jones reportedly have, will, without a doubt, temper those firestorms for a bit longer.
Shurmur’s scheme is predicated on a strong running game, play action pass and short area accuracy. With that, the big arm isn’t such an issue. Get the ball in your playmakers hands, with accuracy and in stride and let them do work.
I’m still not thrilled, but I’ll hold my judgement until I see what the kid can do on the field.
and see just how prescient arc was in that thread: Â

is absolutely the kind of QB I could see Jints Central targeting. He checks a lot of the “Giants Way” boxes.
But I don’t think he’s one of the top six available QBs. I really find nothing interesting or outstanding about his skills.///// [arcarsenal:]
He looks like a crappy Ryan Tannehill to me.
I tried to warm myself up to him a couple months ago, but I just really don't see it.
Who was Sy's comp for Jones? None other than one Ryan Tannehill. ugh
But for quarterbacks the most important consideration is decision making. Haskins decision making is stellar. Jones not as good. This was the most important decision a GM can make and Gettlemen spit the bit.
couldve instantly overhauled the defnese last night

Now that the shock has abated, this should be the mindset of every Giants fan going forward.

yeah i'm kind of in a "they better be right about him" mode right now
I'm excited... If he is a franchise QB, him over Allen was a no brainer...

Chance they take Jones unless it's in like the 4th round.
