So we're going to have a ton of cap room

CMicks3110 : 4/26/2019 12:37 pm
starting next year, and not really a single player that's worth spending big $ to re-sign---who are your very very early FA targets? for what should be a fun spending spree in winter 2020.
Lets see how much of that cap is still available

They need to be smart..

Don’t go spending like a mad man because you have money. They will have a cheap QB & there focus should be smart, cost effective signings & accumulating draft picks. Build a deep roster with cap flexibility.
Best move would be to not spend like

crazy and get us back into a tight cap situation like Reese used to do. Overpaying for slightly above average players and signing guys like Dwayne Harris and Casillas (career special teamers) to starter level contracts.
Stay out of the top tier of FA

Use the space to reset the finances of the roster. Sign FAs that will accept short, team friendly contracts. Don't get your cornerstone players in FA; use it to fill in the holes left by the draft process.

+1,000. Eli aint going anywhere.
If Eli has a great season,
Diver_Down : 4/26/2019 1:23 pm : link
we will have plenty of cap space to franchise tag Eli. We don't need to go through the charade of signing him to an extension. We'll have an estimated $100M of cap space. There is no hurry to kick him to the curb if he is still leading the team to the playoffs.
While the Giants may have cap space

it's relative, they're 9th or 10th in the league (projected)

Based on 2018 first round slots, $47 Million(total contracts). same slots as last year 6, 17, and 30.

$25M. Much cheaper than masquerading a 2 year extension where players eclipse the last contract. Some will say that Eli isn't worth his $17M in cash this year or the $23M cap hit this year. When looking at salary inflation at QB, players such as Mariota and Winston will make $21M in cash this year. Big Ben will pocket $45M in cash this year.

I only floated the possibility of FT on Eli if he clearly is playing at a high level and leads the team to the playoffs. Might be too high of a bar, but providing stability even for an additional year might pay off with a deeper playoff push.
