@AdamSchefter
Tampa DE Jason Pierre Paul suffered a potential season-ending fractured neck injury in a single-car accident last week in south Florida, league sources tell ESPN. Pierre-Paul will visit neck specialists this week to get their opinions to see if there’s hope to save this season.
Damn

for a DE, might end more than a season. Could be a career.

Wish him well and hope he invested wisely.

This may be inappropriate at this time, but playing with fireworks without knowing what the hell you're doing is not 100% bad luck, there is some stupidity involved there (again, my condolences to JPP for both incidents, and I humbly admit anyone could be a victim of a fireworks or car accident including myself, but at the very least the fireworks incident we cannot just chalk up to "bad luck").
Sad how his career derailed over the years

JPP's another guy
mittenedman : 5/7/2019 1:29 pm : link
in this strange line of great talent being cursed here. Steve Smith, Kenny Phillips, T2, Hakeem Nicks, Cruz, Manningham, Chad Jones, Jeremy Shockey - now OBJ. Most if not all the Giants special players fall off the map in sudden and/or peculiar fashion.

JPP's 2011 is still one of the best seasons by a DL the league has ever seen. I remember Canty saying that year the only guy he's ever seen play like that is Reggie White, which is who JPP reminded him of. He was that dominant. He had White's strength with Julius Peppers' athleticism.

You don't see that level too often. Had he somehow kept that up he'd be a 1st ballot HOF
What horrid luck this guy has had.
BlueLou'sBack : 5/7/2019 1:31 pm : link
After his 2nd year with the Giants, when he was the best player on our D, especially at making huge impact plays, I though he'd end up being the 2nd greatest Giant defender ever. Madam Fate had other ideas.

It's all part of the handshake someone made with the man downstairs to win two Lombardy and two SB MVP trophies...
Well apparently JPP

was in a single car accident at 5am. He's always posting videos of him driving. After the accident he erased his whole Instagram.

Wild theory is this is his second self-induced injury.

with the 15th overall pick was not one of them. The minute I heard that JPP blew off half his hand, I knew the Giants chances for another Lombardi within the next five years had just evaporated.

That JPP fireworks incident and the Plax shooting himself incident are two moments in NYG infamy.

keep getting injured....no love for Getts to take that advice? Love JPP...what a talent...but didn't want to resign him just on cost/benefit analysis...same for Collins...NE Pats do not pay these guys and they do ok...they also don't pay 18-20mm per year for WR "personas" They figure it out...just like NYG 4 Lombardis figured it out....vent over

People who get into one accident get charged higher insurance rates for good reason, its likely a higher statistical correlation to getting into multiple accidents. DG made the right move here.
I would posit that holding an M80 in your hand and lighting it...

Nice guy, brought the fans here a lot of joy when he wasn't hurt. (The story about his blind dad made me appreciate him a lot).

All the best JPP, and a full recovery to you.
First reports were that he was fine.
81_Great_Dane : 5/7/2019 3:50 pm : link
So it's very sad to hear that he's got a fractured neck.

I'm not an expert on neck injuries, but I know there is the vertabrum and the transverse process. Is a cracked transverse process on a cervical vertabrum a season-ending injury? If he cracked the vertabrum itself, geez, that's freakin' scary.
Sorry for him

This isn't a football injury; it was a car accident.

Polian's comment on injured players really doesn't apply here. This could have just as easily happened to a guy who went 10 years in the league without missing a single game.
