any advice on good mosquito repellent for my yard. There isn't any standing still water in my yard. No ponds or anything. Next door they have a pool but other than that, thats it.
I have a sprinkler system that comes on and off in the morning and night but again, the grass soaks it up.
any advice would be appreciated.

Anyway, back to the seasonal employee, he was a retiree and an old timer veteran. We struck up a friendship as I'm a veteran and he has been treating my property on a regular basis that extends beyond the standard treatment described above. One of the "secret" treatments is to apply a mosquito barrier on the vegetation. The product that they use is called Tapstar and they mix it into a sprayer. I haven't used my handheld fogger in 2 years.
Now, no treatment will 100% eliminate every mosquito. But between the mosquito barrier (Tapstar) and their fogging treatment, my property isn't swarming with mosquitoes. Best thing is that I don't pay a cent other than the property taxes where their budget is derived from.

My understanding on the battery operated ones is that the battery life sucks
how much does yours charge for this and does it work?
To give you an idea of the strength, it's recommended solution is a spoonful per gallon of water.

You mean Beer Man?
It's a mosquito magnet. Converts propane to CO2 to attract the mosquitos and then traps them inside.

This is the stuff that the mosquito control district guy uses. I wrote Tapstar above, but it is what you wrote Talstar. Now, my guy doesn't spray the walking surface of the grass so it is safe for my pets right away. He will spray the shrubs/fence/and other vegetation (my property backs up to a conservation area) and it serves as a barrier that lasts for a few weeks until the next application.
I bought one of these. It highly disappointed.

Yup. It's the best solution. All the other stuff like citronella candles and dryer sheets and planting lavender... I've never found them to be nearly as effective as this stuff.
When spraying, be sure to hit areas that mosquitos might cling to... Vertical surfaces up to 3 ft from the ground. That's in addition to the main areas you're trying to keep mosquito free. I don't have a huge yard or pets so I basically spray every part of my backyard plus along the side of my house.
