The #Vikings had held active extension talks with veteran TE Kyle Rudolph, but those broke off this morning, sources say. With Minnesota drafting TE Irv Smith and Rudolph due $7.5M, this development could lead to a trade elsewhere. There is interest around the NFL.

Yup ... and he’ll go there and put up 10 TDs as Gronk-lite

Always liked Rudolph, very underrated player
While I am usually against potential trades like this

The thought of giving Jones a complete TE to go along with Engram is intriguing at the right price. The Giants could save some cap space by releasing Ellison.

Cutting Ellison to acquire Rudolph would be amazing ... NE has the bigger “need” so I magine they’d offer more if both were interested

Rudolph and Engram would be a dream 2 TE offense
Eli's favorite pro bowl target ...

Do it... just so that we can say goodbye to Ellison... Rhett is overrated as a blocker, underated as a receiver and hasn't really been the player I expected when we brought him in... somewhat of a disappointment.
That

Would be a great addition to the team. He may be cut anyway, offer a pick see if it floats.
Agree

Rudolph and Engram is a hell of duo.

Takes a lot of pressure off of our weak ass WR corp. Rudolph > Ellison any day.
I would think a 7th would do it

They have to free up cap space somehow.
Vikings need to free up cap space
Chip : 5/10/2019 2:35 pm : link
not the Giants but Ellison for Rudolph is not a bad idea if Rudolph is healthy

There is no way a 7th would get it done. There will be several teams including NE that will want him. I would offer a compensatory 4th and a 6th round pick for him. If he makes the pro bowl or the Giants make the playoffs it can become a 3rd.

Could be, but they just signed Ben Watson out of retirement for a one-year $3mil deal.

New England gets him for a 6th, or 7th.
Rudolph can't

Block to save his life. Good pass catcher though

Who's a better blocker between Ellison and Rudolph?
Leg of Theismann : 5/10/2019 4:36 pm : link
We need a TE that can block, especially considering we currently don't have a starting-caliber RT.

I'm actually expecting Ellison to have a nice comeback year. His 3rd year with the team and he has flashed at points in his career.

A 4th is way too much and even crazier to think it could move to a 3rd and attach a 6th?? I doubt he will fetch a 5th. I bet a 6th gets it done. Maybe a team or two that think he is a missing piece would go for a 5th.
Nothing wrong

with Engram and Ellison. What would Rudolph add/replace? Why sacrifice a draft pick for him?
They won't trade him, having two quality tight ends in

Rudolph is a much better player than Ellison and if it’s for a 5th round pick or lower I’d do it in a heartbeat

Rudolph is a significantly better receiver than Ellison. He would add a real safety net for Eli/Jones.
How about Ellison and a fifth rounder?

Vikings liked Ellison when he was there.
no thanks
GiantsFan84 : 5/10/2019 8:03 pm : link
he's closer to the end than his prime. by the time this team is ready he will be washed up

the only players they should be spending resources to get are young ones
He would be a great addition !
Bluesbreaker : 5/10/2019 9:07 pm : link
I have for the last few years wanted a big TE
Rudolf fits the bill . Engram is a good receiver
but has had issues with drops and isn't the big body
that can get those first down in the 7-10 yard range
by his size alone .
Keeping drives going and wearing people out and keeping
the defense fresh .

Agreed.
This was discussed here shortly after the draft...

When the rumors about Rudolph and a couple of Viking CB's being on the trading block first surfaced. I'll say now what I said then: Just say no. Rudolph is not a good blocker. He makes Ellison look like Howard Cross.
