Over a Strong Safety who had zero interceptions, zero sacks, and one forced fumble his last year here. I liked Collins the player, but he had one good (very good) year in 2016.
If the Redskins want to pay top dollar (6 years 84 million) for that then go right ahead. Gettleman was right not to pay that (and wrong not to trade him in 2018).
Reinforced my belief that Gettleman is a pompous ass.
Always find it interesting when fans prefer to back a single player who has no burden of responsibility to build a winner and is responsible only for himself and his own play, over the individual whose sole charge is to build a winner and shoulders the responsibility to bring the right 53 men into the organization. The GM is a leader and has to make hard choices. Under no circumstance could Gettleman spend that kind of money on a one dimensional player. Saying goodbye to Collins was the right move for the franchise at the time.

Not just LC but a lot of these guys who never won here across the board, tons of Giant fans are getting emotional over leaving (OBJ, Vernon, Snacks).
celebrate the departure of the team's best and most respected defensive player, for whom the GM didn't even bother to take an offered third rounder. The player was one of the best at running around hitting, tackling and blitzing. But coverage is supposedly an uncorrectable fault.
So they'll replace Collins with someone with more balanced talent, who can't do anything as well as Collins, but at least has balance.
The only overpaid Giant who people can't get enough of is the QB. Seven years, multi-millions in salary, one playoff game.
Collins was a young man with a lot of class whose biggest problem was that he hated losing.
"I want to thank the Giants organization for believing in me and allowing me to have 4 great years in NY," Collins tweeted. "I can't express how great it was to play with my teammates and in one of the greatest cities in the world. I will forever cherish my time in the blue and white and the relationships I have built in the building and in my community. Now on to the next chapter."
So Peppers will replace Collins and all you guys will fall in love again until his contract year comes along and we have to get rid of him.

I really do feel like the homerism on here is outrageous at times.
Overall, a pretty benign conversation from a guy who seemed to really love the club. The stuff about no one even speaking to him was interesting and really re-enforced what many other players have said about DG and his poor rapport with players.

You don't want your GM or owner having a rapport with your players, that's a Snyder like environment. Didn't care for The Duke and Tiki being such butt buddies, quite possibly enabled his entitlement.
Collins probably not worth what the Redskins paid him, so, good no deal by Gettelman, but more about how he's an asshole with poor professional athlete skills. Everybody is excited about the changes he's made. I hope trading Beckham for Peppers and Lawrence pays off, along with the other "culture changes" he's made. I hated the Gettelman hire from day 1. Hated him when he was a pompous blow hard with the Panthers. The guy is an asshole, his decisive moves better pay off, that's all I can say, cuz he sounds like he has no fucking idea what he's doing anytime he talks. Hopefully I learn to appreciate him when his team speaks for him.
was not going to play for the franchise tag. Which, all in all, was a pretty nice chunk of money. Hopefully the next CBA they will change that somehow because that seems to be the norm these days. Playing for the franchise tag, supposedly for the team you want to spend the rest of your career with, allows more time to make that happen. However, you can not blame a guy for getting $84 million. I am sure Gettelman knew the market for him. What else was he supposed to do?
He's ancient history. He has gone to NFL Hell,
The Washington Redskins.

He’s going to be a star in this defense.

he seemed to lose his one elite dimension last season with all the missed tackles.
Spoken like a true GeniASS!
