I cannot get over how enjoyable this movie was. Some terrific scenes. Is Michelle Yeoh not the hottest mother going?
The MaJong(sp) game scene was an all time great imho.
It's a rom com and I usually hate those, but I enjoyed this a lot. I agree it's formulaic, but I found the characters more likeable than in other similar movies. On a related note, the food at that market in the beginning looked amazing

every night all the food vendors are there. The food is fantastic, a combo of Indian, Malaysian and chinese. Have been to Singapore many times on Business, No crime lots of food and very hot ladies
so the mother could win. It gave the mom a whole different view.
Other than the end of Casablanca and Ben Hur i can't think of a more powerful scene and this was a comedy. really well done
we both enjoyed it immensely. And we're really picky about the acting, story line, etc. We hate about 80% of the movies we watch. Surprised us how much we loved this one.

recycle vibe to it, it was significant to just be about a certain race not being black or white. i know that shouldnt mean much it really does make a refreshing change.
