1.Tomorrow is the first day that the Giants can have all 90 players allowed on the field. The NFLPA rules for this phase of the voluntary workouts:
All coaches allowed on the field
Individual and perfect play drills allowed
No offense vs. defense drills
No one - on - one drills
No helmets
2.The Giants drafted 10 players. 3 have already signed. The following 7 remain unsigned:
DeAndre Baker
Corey Ballentine
Ryan Connelly
Daniel Jones
Dexter Lawrence
Darius Slayton
Oshane Ximines
Though the rookies were away this past week, rest assured that their agents were busy finalizing rookie contracts with Giants management. Expect announcements tomorrow on some signed draft picks.
3.Keep an eye on tomorrow's attendance. Even though this is all voluntary, I fully expect 100% participation.
4.Expect Mike Remmers to be in for his physical and then his contract signing. If I remember correctly, the Giants roster is currently at 89, so I don't believe a player needs to be released to sign Remmers.
5.We might get an update on FS Jacob Thieneman, who was injured during the Rookie Weekend.
6. The Remmers contract was resolved on a Saturday. Word came from the agent and not from the Giants. It would not surprise me if the Giants were working on another veteran contract this weekend at another position, which would require the release of another player.
7. You may see some minor roster changes over the next weeks or months, but basically the Giants Front Office work is done. Tomorrow, its time for the Giants coaches to begin their work with the 90 players given to them by management. The Giants 2019 season is here.

This is Daniel Jones fault. I don't know how but it is.
Shane Ray - would fill speed rusher role we're missing, college teammate of Golden, still just 25 years old. His last visit was with Seattle who ended up signing Ansah.
Danny Shelton - most recently visiting Cincy, also still 25, graded out pretty well against the run for NE last year.
Mike Mitchell - joined Colts halfway through the year last year and played well, ended last year on injured reserved. Gettleman brought him in his first year in Carolina. More of an in the box strong safety type, but also created 3 turnovers in 8 games last year. Solid veteran who has always been a physical presence, could possibly help out in the middle of the field.
Corey Liuget - 29, tore his quad last year and missed most of the season. Could possibly fill a backup role a la Rocky Bernard.
That's pretty much in order of preference since the younger guys should be motivated and both have some upside.

As for pass rush, we have to hope Golden returns to form and Carter develops into a threat. Yes, we can scheme sacks but only Golden is a proven pass rusher and that was really for only one season when he had solid talent around him to help.
Our #1 defensive hole is pass rush, IMHO, followed by young corner play ((likely)).
If our defense stays healthy through camp we should be much improved from last year and likely strong against the run. ILB is a worry should we have an injury.

That's a great group with the exception of Mitchell. I've never been a fan of his but if he could be had close to the minimum with little guarantees I would be in support of bringing him in to compete with Michael Thomas for the backup SS spot. The more competition the better.

I've always liked Mitchell bc he's a real physical tone setter, kind of like Collins was just with less range. I'm sure he's slowed down even further but I wonder if he could do well in the money backer/Deone Buchannon role. NFL.com lists his weight as 220, which is 20 pounds heavier than the Giants list Michael Thomas. Here's a blurb from PFF where they ranked him as the 8th best FA safety this year:
Despite a shortened season in which he played just 237 snaps, Mitchell was impressive. He recorded 12 stops (constituting a win for the defense), which was more than he had in a season with the Pittsburgh Steelers from 2014-2016. And he played 1000-plus snaps in those seasons. Even at age 31, Mitchell can still patrol the back end at an elite level.

hasnt been a better player so far. I remember him being thought of very highly by many, including some on here at the time he was drafted.
I liked the guy, too, but some times we just have to accept that we were wrong. He will already be on his third team and he really doesn't fill a need (because he doesn't play the 5 technique, which is the gaping hole on the DL).
We've got five or six guys who could play the 5-tech. We've got one bona fide NT.
