Doris Day just came across as so joyful and happy. I loved watching her movies
She achieved greatness both as a singer and as an actress.

However, she was also very, very pretty and appealing.

Loved her in "Midnight Lace" and "The Thrill of It All." Two very different movies and she was excellent in both of them.

RIP.
She had this 'girl next door' persona. High Hopes was my favorite

High Hopes? That's just a cover of a song Sinatra introduced.

Speaking of Sinatra, Doris Day was very upset of his demands in the movie "Young at Heart", calling him "the man that refused to die" for the way he made the studio change the ending of the movie.

My moms favorite actress. I remember as a kid, my mom would sing que sera sera while doing chores in the house.

RIP Doris.
I think Johnny purposely left the studio cold for this interview. - ( New Window )
For me, her best singing role was as...
BMac : 5/13/2019 12:08 pm : link
...Jo Jordan (actually Jo Stafford) in "Young Man with a Horn."
she had a TV show when I was little
bluepepper : 5/13/2019 12:51 pm : link
later read that she never wanted to do the show but her husband who doubled as her agent had signed her up for it without her knowledge. He kicked off shortly thereafter and left her finances a mess. Pretty amazing how even big stars like her can end up in a bad fix like that.

fun fact - Doris Day was offered but rejected the role

of Mrs. Robinson in "The Graduate."

singer, comedienne, serious actress. Is there any doubt she could have played Mrs Robinson if she wanted the part? And an underrated beauty- she was in her early 50's in that Carson interview.

RIP Doris.

My sister and I used to watch that when we were kids. It started out as her on a farm with a Grandpa and children, then after a couple seasons morphed into her moving to a city and leaving the grandpa behind.

I had read that same thing about her husband/agent.
